“They’re just being dicks, Meg.” Shadow says, shooting us all dirty looks.

"No, we’re all laughing because we all know the reason you canceled on her, and it wasn’t because any of us found out.” Wrath says, while shooting his brother a warning look,

“Then why?” Megan says, looking pissed.

“Because he was in shit with Wreck for keeping your secret.” Wrath says, flashing Megan a look of displeasure.

“You canceled on me for a friend!” Megan shouts.

Oh shit. She’s not fucking happy at all. Does she not know how important Wreck is to Shadow? I find that very fucking unlikely.

“He’s more than just a friend, Megan, and you know that. I’m not going to stand here and argue with you. You have a job to do, and we’ve got somewhere to be. We can talk about this later in private.” Shadow says, and then turns and leaves. Megan stands there, mouth agape, in surprise. I guess she’d never seen him this way before.

We all follow Shadow out and towards our bikes, hopping on and setting off towards Devil’s Ink to let everyone know what happened. I couldn’t be more relieved that I get to tell Sera that Sabbatini isn’t going to be a problem anymore.

Chapter Thirty-Nine

Sera

It’s been a few months since the meeting with Sabbatini. I couldn’t have been happier when everyone returned and told me it was dealt with and he’d be leaving me alone. I was finally free to live my life with Blade without any added interference from my past.

In terms of my relationship with Blade, it’s only gone from strength to strength these past few months. He makes me happier than I’ve ever been in my life. Over the past few weeks, the construction company Shadow used to build his house on The Compound broke ground on the house that will become mine and Blade’s home. I’m so excited to see what it looks like when it’s finished. We chose a build very similar to my Dad’s place. His house is the perfect size for when we decide to start our own family, and I've loved the design of it since the first moment Dad took me there.

Talking about family. Shadow’s still seeing Megan. My first meeting with her was what I can only describe as amusing. She clearly didn’t like me, even though she tried to hide it. Saying that, I got the feeling she didn’t like anyone who was part of Shadow's life. The person she hates the most is Wreck, though, and she can’t hide it. Every time she sees him, her eyes give away how she feels, not to mention her words. I’ve heard more than once her complaining to Shadow about the time he spends with Wreck. Thankfully, even though it clearly causes issues in his relationship, he hasn’t stopped spending time with Wreck. I’m not quite sure what’s going to happen with Megan and Shadow if she doesn’t change her attitude as far as Wreck is concerned. There is nothing on this earth that could stop Shadow from being friends with Wreck, and if Megan doesn’t start to accept that, their relationship is doomed.

Blade’s spent the past two months working with my family and the other Officers to come up with a plan for the list of men Tech gathered. I knew that even though I’d put my past behind me, all the men in my life needed to deal with those who had hurt me, so I left them to it. The only thing I really know about it is that even though Wrath and Flame have been part of the planning, they aren’t actually going to be going. They’ve made the decision to stay behind because of what’s happening today.

Today is the day I’m being implanted with the first embryo, the embryo I’m hoping will take and become their child. Don’t get me wrong, I’ll do this as many times as it takes for them to have their child, but I don’t want them to have to go through months, maybe even years, of waiting for it to happen. It’s taken a lot of tests, procedures, medication, and needles to get to this point. The point we all want to be, well, other than when I actually give birth to their child.

At the moment, what I’m doing is a secret. We made the decision to just keep it between the four of us until I’m actually pregnant and through the first trimester. We don’t want everyone else to get involved and get their hopes up only to be disappointed if something happens.

Sitting in the waiting room with Blade, Wrath, and Flame, I can’t help but quietly chuckle to myself because of the clear excitement that’s coming off of both Wrath and Flame. I don’t blame them for being so excited; this is everything they could have dreamed of. They’re finally on the road to getting another child.

“Miss Jacobson.” A nurse calls into the waiting room.

I’m no longer a Dawson; I changed my name legally a few days after the meeting with Sabbatini. I didn’t want anything left to tie me to Patricia. To say everyone was happy about the change in my name would be an understatement. My Dad even cried, which made me cry. Shadow jumped up and down like the goof he is, and Wrath just smiled.

A few hours later, I’m back home with Blade. The doctors said the procedure went without a hitch, and in about a month's time, we should hopefully know if it’s taken.

“How are you feeling, Angel?” Blade asks as he walks into our bedroom.

“Tired for some reason.” I say, with a yawn.

“Probably all the excitement of today, Angel. Grab some sleep. I’m going to go talk to your Dad for a little while before I come bed.” He says, leaning over and kissing my forehead.

“Okay.” I mumble, already feeling my eyes close.

Before Blade has even left the room, I’m drifting off into a peaceful sleep. I am happy with the way my life has turned out. I'm also hopeful that soon I'll be carrying my niece or nephew. I want nothing more, other than maybe becoming Blade's wife.

Chapter Forty

Blade

Today was definitely one I’ll never forget. I may not have been with Sera when she was implanted, but I was with Wrath and Flame. They still can’t believe all this is happening. I think it’s because, until today, it was more of a plan. Now, though, it’s more real. She’s actually implanted with the embryo that will hopefully become their child. Now it’s just a lot of hope and praying that it works out the first time.

It’s no surprise to me that she’s as tired as she is. The excitement coupled with undergoing the procedure has just taken it out of her. I don’t mind her sleeping, though; it gives me a chance to talk to Blaze. After two months of continuous planning, we’re finally at a point where we’re ready to start dealing with the men from Sera’s past.

Walking into the kitchen. I find Blaze sitting at the counter, drinking coffee.
