“Yeah, give me a sec to find you a stupid spare cable.” Felix stepped into view, scowling as he rooted around in his laptop bag. “Here. Take it and go.”
“Boy, you two woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning, huh?” Matty said with a chuckle.
Felix crossed his arms over his chest. “We were doing just fine until you barged in.”
Matty’s expression fell as he glanced at Jonah. “Sorry. I—” He let out a sudden startled laugh. “Oh, I get it now. Whoops. Sorry to interrupt, guys. See you at breakfast. Or not.”
Felix shot Jonah a questioning look as Matty sniggered, then made a beeline for the door.
Jonah shrugged. He didn’t have a clue what was up with Matty either.
“Have fun!” Matty called before the door swung shut behind him.
“What was that about?” Jonah asked. He glanced around for clues and his gaze landed on the lube bottle on the nightstand. “Oh.”
“Huh?” Felix frowned at him.
Jonah picked up the bottle he’d left out last night and waggled it. “Pretty sure he thought he was interrupting something.”
Felix’s scowl deepened. “He was!”
“Okay, but more than … whatever we were actually thinking about getting up to.”
“Yeah?” Felix arched an eyebrow. “How do you know what I was thinking?”
Jonah contemplated all of the things that the two of them could do that might involve a bottle of lube and felt a little faint. He still hadn’t ruled out the idea that he was dreaming this whole thing. Although if he cock-blocked himself in a dream he was going to be so pissed.
“Umm,” Jonah managed.
“But let’s start with a kiss, yeah?” Felix said. He sauntered over and sat next to Jonah, closer than he had the last time, his shin brushing Jonah’s thigh.
“Yeah,” Jonah managed.
They both leaned in but the beep of Jonah’s phone filled the air before they could connect.
If this is a dream, it’s definitely turning into a nightmare. Jonah sighed and turned away. “Hold that thought. Just let me turn this off and we can …”
But Felix was already up off the bed and striding away. “That’s your get your ass out the door or you’re gonna be late reminder, isn’t it?”
“Yeah,” Jonah said with a pained groan. Felix didn’t like to be late so there’d be no budging him.
“Well, we better hurry!” For the third time in less than twelve hours, Felix walked into the bathroom and left Jonah in bed, bewildered.
They really needed to stop having these moments in the morning. This was getting ridiculous.
Jonah couldn’t even begin to process everything that had happened lately. What was happening to his life?
But Felix was right about needing to hurry, so Jonah hustled to get ready for the day.
By the time Felix was ready to leave, Jonah was still shirtless and definitely running late. Still, as Jonah passed Felix in the little hall by the bathroom door, he hesitated.
“I thought …” Jonah said a little weakly. He bit his lip. “I thought you were going to kiss me.”
“You still want me to?” Felix asked, arching his brows, a cocky little look on his face.
Numbly, Jonah nodded. Oh God did he ever. It was probably going to blow up spectacularly in his face but the thought of Felix’s lips on his …
Those worries were immediately forgotten as Felix pressed close, sliding a hand along Jonah’s bare side. He pressed his lips gently to Jonah’s, the prickle of his short beard making Jonah shiver. His lips were warm and soft and Jonah fluttered his hands up to grasp at his sleeves, needing him closer. As if happy to oblige, Felix crowded him against the wall, sliding his tongue into Jonah’s mouth like he’d kissed Jonah a thousand times before.
