He moved onto the live plants and was tempted by several of them but they were going to be difficult to transport back on the plane.
When Felix finally spotted the perfect gift, he smiled and snatched it up. He jogged to the counter, waiting impatiently for the clerk to ring him up.
She raised her eyebrows when he asked if they ever made deliveries but when he offered to pay extra, it was amazing how quickly she arranged everything.
He was definitely running late by the time he jogged out of the building though and he found Jonah waiting in the rideshare car.
“Sorry, sorry,” Felix said as he slipped into the car, throwing a, “Thanks for waiting,” at the driver who shrugged before pulling away from the curb.
“Your stomach okay? You were in there a while,” Jonah asked quietly.
“Dude, no. That was one time and I was fourteen!” Felix protested, trying not to grimace. “I had something else I was doing in there.”
Here Felix was trying to be romantic and Jonah assumed he was destroying public restrooms. This might be the downside of dating a friend and teammate who knew every embarrassing thing about him.
Thankfully, Jonah nodded and didn’t press.
It didn’t take them long to get to the restaurant and they had a pleasant pregame meal, talking about the upcoming game and what they needed to focus on.
On the ride from the restaurant to the hotel, Felix decided he really did need to wine and dine Jonah sometime.
He wasn’t about to mess with their pregame routines but maybe this summer he’d make reservations at a nice place and take him to a concert or something. Something that didn’t involve the team or hockey in any way, shape, or form. Maybe they could travel some this summer too.
Jonah had mentioned something about visiting the Royal Tyrrell Museum recently. Alberta wasn’t the most exciting place but they could check out some dinosaurs and plants and enjoy some alone time.
Felix had a feeling their chemistry wasn’t going to cool off any time soon so they might not see much outside of a hotel room.
Either would be fine with Felix, though he really did want to show Jonah their lives together could be about more than hockey and Grandma Ji-min.
“Today was a good day,” Jonah declared as they stepped into their hotel room a while later.
“It was.” Felix shot him a smile. “I know it gets a little confusing, mixing our pregame routines and our dates together, but I try to show you a good time.”
Jonah smiled back. “You do.” He hesitated, then shook his head.
“What? Out with it,” Felix demanded. “We don’t have secrets, right?”
That was as much a reminder to himself as to Jonah but his expression grew serious. “I—I’ve been wondering if these are ‘we need to show the public we’re dating’ dates or something else.”
“Something else,” Felix said with a lift of his eyebrow, confused that Jonah even had to clarify. “I mean, the bonus PR stuff is good, but we’re actually doing this, right?” he asked.
He gestured between themselves and Jonah nodded.
“I want to show you this is more than just some convenient hookup.”
Jonah’s face softened. “Felix …”
He shrugged. “Look, I mean, don’t get me wrong though. It is convenient.”
Jonah laughed.
“And I am enjoying hooking up.” Felix shot Jonah a grin and wrapped his arms around his waist.
“Yeah, me too,” Jonah said, pressing close.
“But we don’t have much time before our nap. Get your clothes off.” Felix smacked Jonah’s ass, then pushed him toward the bed. “I want to get my mouth on you.”
Jonah’s steps faltered for a second but he ripped off the clothes, then threw himself at the bed spread-eagle. “Don’t have to ask me twice.”
