“That is strange, right?” I look between them, reading their body language. Blake looks ready to spring to his feet and fly out the door to drag her back, while Matt is tense and concerned. I’m a mix of the two of them, if I’m being honest.

“What’s strange?” Cam asks, appearing from his open bedroom door.

“Rinny went home with only a single text to Riley,” Blake says.

Cam shrugs. “Maybe she needed a break from all of you.”

Matt rolls his eyes, leaning back onto the couch. “Or she decided that you were avoiding her too much and making it awkward as fuck around here.”

Cam crosses his arms and leans against the doorframe. “I’m not avoiding her. I’m saving her from me.”

Blake snorts before a chuckle comes out of his mouth. “So fucking noble. If you are the reason she left, I’ll skin you alive.”

Great, I’ve woken up the manic side of Blake and the martyrdom side of Cam; they don’t mix well. Looking at Matt, I lift my brows in a silent question. He sighs and nods.

“Did she say when she was coming back?” Matt asks, attempting to redirect the conversation before Blake and Cam are rolling around on the ground, beating on each other for no reason.

“No.”

“I think we need to give her space,” Matt replies. “She will come back.”

I wish I had his confidence. His belief seems so solid. But I saw her face after her heat. She doesn’t think she really belongs, as if we would just randomly give out pity fucks. Hell, I claimed her before all of that, but still, she obviously has been through some shit that makes her question love. I understand that. She is the only person in this world that truly makes me believe it is real.

Sure, I love the pack, but my feelings for her go beyond a simple pack love. It is all-consuming and all-encompassing, like the feeling of gliding through water, cocooned and held securely. There isn’t a single part of my soul that isn’t alight with the feel of her soul against mine.

She completes me.

Giving her space sounds horrible when I want to run after her. But I nod and tug my fingers through my hair anyway. “Yeah, space.”

Blake glares at all of us. “She left without a single word to any of us. This doesn’t sound like a planned visit. If she isn’t running from Cam, then something could be wrong. Matt, didn’t you say she told you she stayed with her aunt in Westfield?”

He pulls out his phone and brings up an app. I lean forward, catching a glimpse of what appears on his screen. A map, with five faces, four of them all in one space and Rin further away.

“You track us?” I ask, lifting my eyebrow as I pull my eyes from the screen. When did he start doing that?

“Technically, we all track each other if you ever go into your app.” Blake shrugs.

Matt unlocks his phone and swipes through the screens. He comes to a stop on one of the pages and opens the same app as Blake. “You psycho, you downloaded this on all of our phones?”

“You’re welcome,” he replies, as he stands up and walks over to shove his feet into his shoes near the door. “Who is going with me to get our girl?”

“She needs space,” Matt repeats.

Cam stays leaning against the doorframe, a fake-as-shit impassive look on his face. He needs to get his head out of his ass, but that will have to wait. I snag up my helmet and toss Blake his.

“Guess it is just us,” I say.

‘Fuck them,’ he signs before pulling the door open with a manic grin.

We are either going to save our girl again or fuck it all up.

CHAPTER 47

Erin

“Mom, this isn’t necessary,” I say, for what feels like the millionth time since she made me get into her car. She basically kidnapped me. At least she doesn’t plan on selling me on the black market.

Her hands grip the steering wheel like it is a lifeline. “It is. Did you go to the police? Report that man?”
