I’m speechless. She walks toward my desk. I twist my body away from my computer.

She lowers the coffee and plate to the desk.

“I didn’t know what you wanted. You have too many options to choose from.”

I peer down at the two eggs, turkey bacon, potatoes and whole wheat toast. And then look back at her.

I tilt back in my chair and pat my lap. “Come here, star.”

She goes to turn so her ass sits on my lap.

My hands on her hips guide her to sit facing me. I want her to straddle me.

Her eyes locked on mine. The chemistry between us is so intense.

“Thank you,” I whisper.

She softly smiles before kissing me. A long gentle kiss. My hands glide up her back over my shirt all the way into her hair to deepen the kiss.

My tongue tangles with hers.

Hers twirls with mine just as hungry. I pull back. “You’re making me want to change my mind about fucking you.”

“Good.”

I groan. “You’re trouble.”

She nods and leans in to capture my lips in another peck. She peels herself away from me to stand. I’m hard beneath my sweatpants. I remind myself she’s sore and I need to give her at least a few hours to recover.

She wanders to the shelves of books I have along the wall. Her hand tracing the book spines of the F.X. Toole books. It reminds me of our late night talking.

She continues walking along the shelves, when she stops, pulls out a book and reads the back.

“Take whatever you want,” I announce.

She turns her head to face me. “I’m surprised you have fantasy.”

“I like having my shelves full of all types of books. I read a lot.”

She puts the book back. “My mom and I do too.”

“What about your dad?” I say gently, knowing it’s a sensitive topic.

A lightness beams on her face. “No way. He won’t read at all.”

“Not even the newspaper?” I ask.

“Oh, he reads that. Every old man reads the newspaper daily.”

“Hey, be careful who you’re calling old.” I quirk a brow, pushing the newspaper I’ve been reading beside me.

“You really like to read.”

“I do but I also like to keep up with the news and the stock market.”

She rolls her eyes. “Boy shit.”

“Not just for men. Lots of women are now into stock and shares.”
