“You didn’t call me back last night,” she pouted before pressing her lips to mine.

Nicole and I had been hanging out for a few months. It wasn’t serious, at least not on my end. I was upfront with her and told her that it wouldn’t ever go anywhere, but she agreed to keep it casual.

We went on dates and we fucked around, but it was always clear. If you wanted to see someone else, you were more than welcome.

She was my distraction and nothing more.

I think the only reason I picked her was because she reminded me of Lennox with her long dark hair and green eyes. Other than that, nothing was the same. Nothing about her compared to Lennox, but she satisfied the need that was there.

I broke the kiss. “I know, I fell asleep. I hope you didn’t wait up.”

“I gave up and went out with Clint.” She shrugged before pulling me back in for another kiss that went deeper.

I broke away and eyed her. “You better stop teasing me before I bend you over this desk,” I threatened in a heavy voice.

“What do you think I came all the way down here for?” She leaned back in, but I had her out of my lap and against the desk in a second.

With her palms, flat on the desk, I slid up the loose dress she was wearing, revealing her black thong, and forcefully yanked it down her hips.

I opened my desk drawer and pulled out a condom before freeing myself from my jeans. I slid it on and pushed into her with one thrust.

I held her hips tightly and pounded into her with my eyes closed, trying my hardest to make myself believe she was someone else. That was the way it always was. I had to make myself believe whoever I was with was Lennox.

She moaned as I moved in and out of her with quick movements. She didn’t sound anything like Lennox and I almost lost my concentration.

I pictured Lennox beneath me, dark curls splayed out across the pillow, her back arching, nails digging into my skin, and that face she made when I would make her come.

Just as my orgasm surfaced, she tightened around me and I knew she achieved the reason she had shown up.

Still picturing Lennox in my mind, I finished and filled the condom. I opened my eyes to see Nicole bent over in front of me. I withdrew myself quickly and turned my back to her.

I didn’t know why I did that to myself. I knew when it was over, I would only be more pissed off than before. I hated that I couldn’t let her go. I hated that I had to use Nicole and imagine Lennox just to get off. I had tried not thinking about Lennox during sex with other women, it never ended well.

I pulled off the condom and tossed it in the trash before fixing my pants. I turned to see her pulling up her panties and fixing her dress. “Not messing around this morning, are you?” she teased.

I sat back down in my chair and wheeled myself up to the desk. “I’m not in the mood today, Nicole.”

I didn’t know why she still came around. I basically treated her like shit. I fucked her and took her out sometimes, but other than that, there was nothing.

With her hand on the doorknob, she turned back to me. “Can we go out tonight? There’s something I want to talk to you about.”

I opened the computer and let my eyes drift over the screen that was covered in pictures of Lennox. “I can’t tonight, I have to coach. I can do lunch if you want.” Being the asshole I was, I didn’t even bother looking up from the computer.

“Okay, I will be there at noon.” She let herself out of the office and I didn’t take my eyes away from my computer screen. I couldn’t, I needed to see Lennox’s bright green eyes and pretend it was me she was looking at.

Once I heard the door close, I dropped my eyes from the computer and held my head in my hands.

What the fuck am I doing? I shouldn’t be treating her this way. Sure, she knows I’m only in it for one thing, but when did that become me? I never used to use women. That’s my brother, not me.

I pushed the thoughts away and turned my attention back to the computer screen.

I flipped through picture after picture. She was still as beautiful as ever. She had changed over the years. Grew into herself, you could say. She wore more makeup than she ever did, but she was still breathtaking with her long curls and emerald green eyes.

I noticed she had become better at faking a smile. I looked over the forced smile on her face and missed the smile that she saved only for me. I looked at her pictures every day but never saw that smile.

After looking through the pictures, my eyes landed on a headline that wasn’t there the day before.

It read, Lennox Madison accepts proposal from Hollywood bad boy, Chris Meyer.
