Did the entire room go silent, or is it just me?

Two officers stand behind Dom, escorting him inside the room. His orange jumpsuit clings to his muscles, but unlike the others, he doesn’t wear a shirt underneath. That reveals more tats on his pecs, that scar across his heart. His short, dark hair matches his ominous demeanour. That chiselled jaw with more scruff than I remember. My stomach twists when those big grey eyes land on me and I swear I hear him growl like the wolf he is.

The room tilts when the officers let him go. Unlike the rest of these men, they don’t take the cuffs off him. “You have twenty minutes.” The officer pushes Dom towards me, but he hardly budges. His eyes lock on me like he’s found his prey.

With one hard step, he approaches me, my legs rooted to the ground. The power in his steps reminds me of the power he has over his squad. His empire. Me. My tongue feels sorer than ever, my nails digging into my skin as he stalks closer. There’s no reading him and I can’t tell if he’s excited to see me, or pissed I’m here. Considering our history, it’s likely the latter.

He’s a few feet away, the room muffling around me.

Two feet away and I can smell him. It hasn’t changed. Vodka and leather ooze off his olive skin. Harsh. Bitter. Just like him.

When he’s a foot away, I expect him to stop, but like the twins' muscle car, he doesn’t. He speeds up, his muscles tensing.

Glancing at the officers, they pay no attention as I take a step back. “H-hey…” I try to play it cool, but my voice is as shaky as my legs. I’m swaying in a storm. There’s no ‘eye,’ no stillness. Just chaos.

Just Dominik.

When he’s inches away, a smirk comes across his face, like he can smell my fear.

My back stiffens.

His smirk grows.

My brows raise.

His broad stature towers over me and he doesn’t have to say anything to make me want to scream. But he does. “Mia.”

My name on his plump lips is the last thing I hear. Right before his mouth crashes into mine.

Chapter Nine

“Federov!”

A muffled voice calls his name in the distance as my back slams against the wall.

Dom’s chest pushes against mine so hard that I’m not even sure if I’m breathing.

The world dims around us, the surrounding lights flickering to darkness as his possessive lips consume me. Dominik is as overpowering with his mouth as he is with his status and like every time before, I’m lost in him. The fire in my body comes to the surface of my skin. And like I’m in hell, everything becomes warm. Hot.

Unbearable.

What is he doing? What am I doing?

Dom’s growl against my lips vibrates my core.

“You’ll know when.”

Shit. This is it. This is the moment.

My tongue ring clacks against the key when I try to push it into his mouth, but he fights me. He bites my lip, hard, and while he’s cuffed, his hand may as well be around my throat because I still can’t breathe.

“That’s enough, Federov!” The officer’s words make little sense. My mind twists into an abyss and when he sinks those venomous teeth into my tongue, my eyes pop open to find Dom’s eyes piercing right into mine.

“These cuffs won’t keep you safe from me, Mia Mouse.” It’s the first sentence he says to me in years. A deep laugh vibrates my cheek, but I hear his words loud and clear. “Not a goddamn chance.”

“Federov!”

His tongue moves from my ear to my neck, my breath shaking, my body tense. If I’m the bunny Feliks says I am, Dom is the carnivorous predator. And he's caught me again.
