CeCe cupped the side of Alexis's face with one hand. “I love you, too, Lex.”
Before Alexis could say anything Cory and Cat came into the room.
“Hey sis, how are you feeling?” Cat asked.
“Better. What happened with the spa event? Did everything go okay?”
“Yes. After we went back upstairs and told everyone what happened, Lana and Tonya took over. They are a force,” Cory said.
Alexis smiled. “I’m not surprised.”
CeCe’s CT scan showed she’d suffered a concussion. When they went back to the ER Cory and Cat were waiting in her examination room. CeCe had given them instructions on what needed to be done then the medication they’d given her began to kick in. Cory and Cat had gone back to the spa event and Alexis stayed with CeCe.
“Are they going to let you go home?” Cat asked.
They all looked at Alexis. “I think so,” she replied. “They wanted to keep you for a while for observation and your vitals have been good.”
“Surely they’ll let me go home with a doctor,” CeCe said with a grin.
“I haven’t been a doctor since I walked into the ER and saw you in this bed.”
“I’m sorry I scared you, baby,” CeCe said.
Alexis smiled and squeezed her hand.
“We haven’t called Mom,” Cory said. “She’s going to be mad if we don’t let her know what happened.”
“I don’t want her to worry,” CeCe said. “I’ll call her when we get home.”
“We’re going back upstairs to clean everything up. Heather said you brought all the boxes in your SUV,” Cory said.
“I did.”
“It’s okay. Cory and I have plenty of room in my car,” Cat said. “Text us when they release you.”
“Okay. Sorry I messed all this up,” CeCe said, smiling at her sisters.
“What! You didn’t mess this up. The asshole that sped through that red light messed it up. Thank God you’re all right,” Cory said.
“I will be. I have a doctor who I’m sure will give me tender loving care.” CeCe grinned at Alexis.
“Nope,” Alexis replied, shaking her head. “You have a girlfriend who loves you and will take very good care of you.”
CeCe saw Cory and Cat share a surprised look.
CeCe chuckled. “Can you believe it, sisters! The hot Doc loves me.”
Cory and Cat laughed. “Of course we can believe it. We didn’t know y’all had finally figured it out,” Cory said.
“At least something good came out of this,” Cat said, elbowing Cory. “We’d better go. We’ll talk to you later.”

The ER doctor walked into CeCe’s exam room. “Dr. Ames,” Alexis said with a nod.
CeCe could tell from Alexis's body language that she didn’t care for the doctor.
Dr. Ames studied his tablet then looked at CeCe. “How is your pain?”
