“You’ve made me feel things that I haven’t felt in such a long time that at first I didn’t know what was happening.”
“Oh, Lex,” CeCe cooed, cupping Alexis's face.
“And I don’t want it to stop. So, yes CeCe, my heart is open to you. When you turned around and saw the moon tonight then turned back and looked at me, I knew I had put that smile on your face. The joy your smile put in my heart in that moment almost brought me to tears.”
CeCe could feel tears sting her eyes.
“Oh no.” Alexis ran her thumb under CeCe’s eye and caught a single tear.
“It’s okay, baby. You’re speaking with your heart.”
Alexis smiled. “I don’t seem to have any control over it and that’s way out of my comfort zone.”
CeCe laughed. “I know you’re used to being in control, but it’s okay. I won’t tell anyone.”
Alexis chuckled. “How did that turn so serious?”
“Because we had such a special night and you created it for us.”
“We created it,” Alexis said, leaning in and kissing CeCe gently.
“I think we’ve done enough talking,” CeCe murmured, kissing Alexis's neck.

CeCe’s eyelids fluttered open and for a moment she didn’t know where she was. She’d been having a dream and it seemed so real. Her eyes closed again and she inhaled. A smile played at the corners of her mouth as she breathed in Alexis's scent. Her head was resting on Alexis's shoulder and CeCe could feel her arms around her. A wisp of Alexis's chocolate brown hair tickled her nose.
She gently swiped the hair away and opened her eyes. It was dark in Alexis's bedroom, but she could make out the outline of the furniture and see there was still darkness behind the window. Her hand rested on Alexis's chest where not too long ago her lips had been exploring and kissing.
CeCe took a deep breath and tried to recall the dream she’d been having. Maybe if she thought about it, she’d fall back to sleep and the dream would continue. In the dream, CeCe was at the salon finishing a client’s hair when Alexis walked in. She smiled at CeCe as she walked to the back of the salon and kissed her on the cheek. When CeCe finished, she’d known they would leave together and go home or be off for a date-night. Is that the way a happy relationship looked?
CeCe remembered having that thought right before she woke up. Is that where she and Alexis were headed? Was this the beginning of their happy relationship? They had such a good time last night and Alexis was so cute, asking CeCe to spend the night.
She could feel the shift inside Alexis. What had started as playful challenges between them were now heated kisses and touches fueled with emotions other than lust. CeCe could see the difference in how Alexis looked at her and felt it in her touch.
CeCe knew she was in trouble the first time Alexis kissed her. As much as she wanted to keep it as playful flirting, that kiss went straight to her heart. She’d been trying to contain her emotions since. It would take time for Alexis to trust her heart, but she could see it happening.
Alexis stirred and CeCe raised her head, slightly sitting up.
“Mmm, is everything all right?” Alexis mumbled.
CeCe put her arm around Alexis and eased her head onto her chest. “It’s perfect,” CeCe whispered. “I want to hold you.”
“Mmm,” Alexis moaned and snuggled in closer as she drifted back to sleep.
“Swooning may become my middle name,” CeCe muttered. Alexis did something to her, whether it was a simple look or something bigger like asking her to stay the night. She knew she should tamp down these feelings so Alexis could catch up or she might get hurt. CeCe smiled. “It won’t hurt to fall into these feelings for one night,” she said softly, kissing Alexis's forehead and pulling her arms a little tighter.
“Mmm, I’m so glad you’re here,” Alexis whispered as she snuggled a little deeper into CeCe’s arms.

“You didn’t have to make breakfast,” Alexis said, walking into the kitchen with a cup of coffee.
“It’s just oatmeal,” CeCe said, putting two bowls and spoons on the table. “You need a good breakfast to go out and save lives.” She turned around to pour them more coffee and stopped in her tracks. “Damn, Dr. Reed. You are rocking that suit!”
Alexis smiled and sipped her coffee. “Thank you.”
CeCe pulled out the chair for Alexis and waited for her to sit.
