“Tell me more about the makeovers?”
“The salon I left to open Salon 411 is owned by a good friend. We came up with the idea when one of our clients had cancer. It gives the women such happiness to be pampered for a little while. And the nurses give such incredible care that we wanted to include them as well. It’s a fun day for everyone.”
“You are amazing, Cecilia!” Alexis exclaimed. “I’m not surprised, though. You always take such care with your clients. I should know, I used to be one.”
CeCe chuckled. “I’ll still do your hair. If you haven’t noticed, I rather like running my fingers through it.” CeCe leaned over and tucked a strand of Alexis's hair behind her ear and kissed her on the cheek.
“Are you trying to make me wreck the car?”
“Just giving you a little incentive to get us to your place.”
“We’re almost there,” Alexis said, turning onto her street.
Sure enough a few minutes later CeCe followed Alexis into the kitchen from the garage.
“I have a hard time believing you haven’t had sex in this house,” CeCe said.
“I didn’t say that,” Alexis said, setting the cooler on the table.
CeCe stared at her for a moment then her face brightened. “Oh, that’s right. I did give you that cute little toy.”
Alexis giggled. “You did.” She rested her hands on CeCe’s hips and smiled. “More dancing?”
“Do you want to dance?”
“Not really.” Alexis leaned in and kissed CeCe softly.
“Mmm, let’s play,” CeCe said, deepening the kiss. It had been such a romantic night and now that they were back at Alexis's house she wanted to feel Alexis's skin next to hers. The vibrator might make an appearance at some point, but she wanted Alexis all to herself.
“Do you want something else to drink?” Alexis offered as she caught her breath.
CeCe shook her head. “All I want is you.”
Alexis gave CeCe such a heated look that CeCe felt a jolt between her legs. She hoped this was the beginning of many nights they spent together.
“I had such a good time tonight,” Alexis said as she led them into the bedroom.
“It’s not over yet.” CeCe crooned.
“I know, but one of the first things you asked me was, were we more than just sex. Remember?”
CeCe nodded. “I know that I mean more to you than just a roll in the hay. I also know we may not have the words yet for just what this is and that’s okay.”
“Can we keep trying to figure it out?” Alexis leaned in closer.
“Will you try to open your heart?” CeCe asked, raising one brow and putting her arms around Alexis's neck. She knew it would be hard for Alexis to be vulnerable again, but if they were to have a chance, Alexis had to try.
“I trust you to be gentle with my heart.”
CeCe smiled. “And will you do the same for mine?” CeCe searched Alexis's eyes. She also knew there was no way Alexis would hurt her intentionally, but sometimes the heat was so intense between them that CeCe was afraid their feelings might not be the same. It would be very easy for CeCe to fall head over heels for Alexis Reed, but it would be hard for Alexis to do the same.
“I can’t imagine a heart as good as yours could feel anything for mine.”
“What?” CeCe said. “You have a wonderful heart, Alexis, you’re just afraid to use it.”
“Do you think we really have any control over our hearts?” Alexis asked.
CeCe smiled. “Maybe we don’t.”
