“You love your house and I do, too,” Alexis said.
“But is it big enough?”
Alexis laughed. “We have been living in it.”
“If you sell yours won’t you be bringing more stuff to ours?”
“I suppose.”
“What would you need if we made that our permanent home?”
“I have things in my office I need to bring. Would you share your office space with me?”
“All I need is a drawer. I don’t really need an office. I just set that room up to look like an office because I didn’t know what else to do with it. We have a spare bedroom if anyone comes to visit us.”
Alexis chuckled. “Okay then, I’ll make it my office because I do need more than a drawer.”
“Perfect. We need more room for all your clothes,” CeCe said, taking a bite of her cone.
“All my clothes? You have more clothes than I do,” Alexis said.
CeCe laughed. “How about we buy new bedroom furniture? We’d have more room and we can clean out our closets. I want this to be our house, not you moving into my house.”
“It can be your house until you’re sure,” Alexis said.
“What?”
“I know doubts still filter in sometimes. I’ll sell my house so you don’t have to worry about losing yours. And I will keep going to sleep every night with you in my arms and I’ll wake up every morning in yours until the doubts go away. Just so you know, I’ll be in your arms forever. I’m living our happily-ever-after.”
CeCe nearly dropped what was left of her ice cream cone.
“It’s okay, babe. I’m all yours. Forever.” Alexis smiled.
CeCe grabbed Alexis behind the neck and pulled her lips to hers. She kissed Alexis with all the love, joy, and happiness they’d experienced together so far.
“Honey, I want what they’re having,” a woman said as she walked by.
CeCe and Alexis pulled apart in time for a man to grin at them as he held the door to the diner open for his wife.
They both giggled and licked their ice cream.
“Do you ever have doubts?” CeCe asked tentatively.
“About us? None,” Alexis said, taking a bite of her cone. “We’re going to be sitting on our bench eating ice cream cones when we’re eighty, baby. Just you and me.” Alexis winked and popped the last bite of her cone in her mouth.
Alexis was right. From time to time, rarely now, but occasionally, CeCe did doubt that she’d be enough for Alexis. Her old fear that she wouldn’t fit in with Alexis's life was non-existent because they fit perfectly together. Their friends had meshed together and they were living a happy life together. CeCe realized Alexis was right, they were living their happily-ever-after.
How could she doubt that!
An idea began to take shape in the back of her mind.
“Let’s go home, babe,” Alexis said, standing up and reaching for CeCe’s hand.
CeCe took it and followed Alexis back to the salon. This was going to be fun!

Selling Alexis's house not only consolidated their stuff, it expanded their friends circle.
