“You’ll have to play something for me sometime,” Brandon said.
Ethan smiled softly. “I will.”
Their gazes caught and held, and in Ethan’s eyes Brandon could see the same nerves and longing he was feeling. He leaned forward sightly, giving Ethan plenty of time to pull away.
And Ethan, beautiful, brave Ethan, leaned forward and pressed his lips to Brandon’s.
The kiss was soft, barely there, almost just a sharing of breath. Their lips caught, clung. They stayed like that for a moment, as if learning each other all over again. They pressed their lips together once, twice, three times more.
Brandon lifted his hand and threaded it through Ethan’s hair, anchoring himself to the love of his life. The kiss turned hotter, tongues threading into each other’s mouths, just little forays. Ethan grabbed Brandon’s arms and pulled himself closer. Brandon turned to him, hearing annoyed little mews as he disturbed the kittens in his lap. But nothing mattered more than the man next to him.
They strained to get closer, lips and tongues brushing together in a wonderfully familiar dance. To Brandon, it felt like coming home.
Neither of them heard the door open, but they heard the person’s voice clearly.
“Now this is not something tiny, impressionable kittens should be seeing.”
Brandon and Ethan broke apart hastily, heads snapping to the newcomer.
Max stood smirking at them. “Brandon, I’m guessing this is the famous Ethan?”
“Uh, yeah,” Brandon said, shaking his head to clear it. “Ethan, this is Max.”
Ethan’s face fell slightly. “Hi Max, Brandon’s mentioned you.”
“Probably bitching about my dog, right?”
“Muffin’s not a dog, he’s the antichrist.”
“Well, I need to get going. Brandon, thank you again.” And with that, Ethan hastily scampered out the door.
“Damn it,” Brandon whispered.
“Come on, get up off your butt and buy me a coffee. You can tell me what that was all about.”
Brandon grunted, but got up.
“Sorry I interrupted, but it’s probably for the best. Y’all don’t want a public indecency charge, and that’s where it looked like you were heading.”
“Yeah, I’d say sorry, but I’m not.”
“Seriously, I thought you two broke up.”
“We did, but I still love him, Max. I want him back.”
“Clearly you’re not done with each other.”
“I sure hope not.”

“So, I kissed Brandon.”
Ethan’s admission was greeted by a round of applause from Lake and Nia.
“Guys …”
“What?” Nia said. “You two are destined to be together, this is just moving y’all in the right direction. I approve.”
