“There’s one player in this game who I don’t know. I know you were all together in this house at some point. Who is he, Luc? The man who funded the restart of the Golden Wizards with Sal?”
“Brinkman,” Luc said with relief shining in his eyes. “Senator Hank Brinkman.”
“Ah, now there’s a good boy.” She looked at Enzo. “Free him and make sure he’s attended to by the doctor. I want to make sure he’s in top shape before my daughter arrives.” She smiled at Luc. “Well, done. I might still have a purpose for you. Keep it up, my dear boy, and you might still receive all Sal promised. Enzo, he may have the same room he usually resided in.”
“Of course, Comare.”
“But first, help Enzo feed the fishes, Luc, and then prepare yourself... the finale is about to begin.”
Chapter Fourteen
A week later. Triple K farm, Bunkie, Louisiana...
“It’s been a week, Kev. When are we making our next move to officially bind Aria as our Babygirl?” Keith had been chomping at the bit since they found out she was their neighbor. He was a man of action, and to him, playing mind games was a waste of time. Yes, in a scene, it served a purpose, but for something as important as securing their life partner, he was concerned it might just chase her away.
“Now that we know who she is and where to find her, there’s no rush, Keith. Besides, I have a hunch that giving her space to get used to the idea that we’re serious is the key to a successful start of our journey together.” Kevin held up his hand when Keith opened his mouth to further debate the issue. “Aria Harper is a tough cookie. We completely shattered her resolve and assertiveness that night at Club Rogue. She didn’t expect it. In fact, I daresay she believed she’d retain a certain level of control over the entire scene. My guess is that she jumped into the lifestyle straight from training. She knows the right things to say and do, but actually experiencing it with Dominants who live and breathe BDSM is completely new to her.”
“You’re right, as usual. It was most definitely the first time she experienced a ménage scene. Do you suppose that’s why she ran off while we were sleeping? That the sensations and resulting emotions overwhelmed her, and she got scared?”
“Yes. In retrospect, I shouldn’t have spanked her either, but damn, that cute little ass of her was just too inviting. Either way, as caring and compassionate Daddy Doms, it’s our responsibility to look out for what is best for our Babygirl.” Kevin grinned. “Besides, my gut instinct tells me she’s going to make the next move. We just need to be patient.”
“As long as the move isn’t to get in her truck and ride out of Louisiana,” Keith muttered, although he agreed with everything Kevin had said. Like always, his adopted brother had the knack to read the little things people believed were hidden from prying eyes.
“Kevin! Keith! You better get over to the northern pasture. Kaden is already on the way there. We’ve got a fire, and it’s spreading rapidly. If we can’t contain it soon, we could lose more than half of the feeding grasslands and some of our prized cattle grazing in that area,” Pete Summers, the farm manager, shouted as he ran past them toward the stable.
“A fire? That can’t be natural,” Keith said. “It’s not hot enough for one to combust.”
“Let’s move, Keith,” Kevin urged him on as he jumped on his stallion. Within moments an entire posse raced toward the area from where they detected thick black smoke swirling into the air.
As they approached the northern pasture, the view that met their eyes was one of chaos and destruction.
“Jesus Christ! It’s worse than I imagined,” Keith said as he stared at the thick, black smoke billowing up in enormous plumes, blotting out the clear blue sky. Bright orange flames leapt and danced as they consumed the dry grass and scrub brush. The fire roared as it spread rapidly across the field, driven by a brisk wind.
“How the fuck did this spread so fast? We just noticed the smoke minutes ago,” Pete said as he stared around wide-eyed.
The air was filled with an acrid smell, like burning plastic and scorched earth. Heat radiated outward.
