She shakes her head. “No, it’s just common knowledge you are casually seeing each other.”
“And that’s all it is,” I reply.
She rolls her eyes. “Technically, I guess.”
As soon as we turn down our hall, I see Cam at the other end walking towards us.
“Looks like you have a visitor,” Jess whispers, a gleam in her eye.
It takes every cell in my body to keep from running down the hall and jumping into his arms. I remain calm and subdued as we move towards him.
“Hi, Cam,” Jess says.
“Hey, Jess.”
“How’s Leo?” she asks attempting to sound nonchalant.
I snicker.
“I’m not sure, but you could ask him when you see him later.”
Jess’s eyes light up, but she does an excellent job of keeping her composure.
“Oh, so he’s stopping by today?”
Cam chuckles. “That’s what he told me.”
“Great,” she says. “Time to get to work. I’ll see you both later.”
She hurries into her room, leaving Cam and I alone in the hall.
“How’s it going?” he says. “I just got here.”
We walk to my classroom, and as soon as the door shuts Cam pulls me into his arms. I rest my head on his chest, close my eyes, and instantly all other thoughts leave my head. If we could stay like this forever, I’d be happy. That’s probably not realistic, but a girl can dream.
He places two kisses on the top of my head.
“I got your text, and Ariel’s group message,” he says. “My phone has been blowing up ever since. I need to figure out a way to remove myself from her invite list. Maybe I’ll just block her.”
“Yes, Ariel has taken it upon herself to plan out the evening for all of us.”
He shakes his head. “I’m still wondering who named her the cruise director?”
“She’s self-proclaimed.”
He smiles and moves his arms around my waist. I rest my hands on his chest.
“I’ll go tonight if you want to,” he says softly.
I shrug. “I don’t care as long as we’re together.”
The words escape my mouth without a second thought. I guess I don’t have a filter anymore when it comes to Cam.
He moves his face closer to mine and stops briefly before kissing me. “I like the sound of that.”
His gesture makes my knees go weak. And as soon as we’re kissing, I feel like I’m having an out of body experience. Me in Coach Cam’s arms in my classroom. Is this real?
“I can’t believe we’re making out in my kindergarten classroom,” I say. “It’s not the most romantic of settings.”
