Page 55 of I Think He Knows?

“Because of the food trucks or Jess?” I ask.

He smiles. “Probably both.”

“Jess is going to be ecstatic,” I say, wiping the counter.

“The fact Leo is coming to the event says a lot,” Cam says.

“So you think he’s interested in her?”

He shrugs. “Serena, you know I can’t betray my friend’s trust. I’ve already said too much.”

“I’ll take that as an answer to my question.”

We finish cleaning up the kitchen and return to the couch.

Cam hands me the remote, his finger brushing mine, which feels like lightening shooting through my body.

“You can select the movie since I chose the restaurant,” he says.

“Ohhh, I like that agreement.”

I start flipping through the options. There are so many good options.

“What Happens in Vegas,” I exclaim. “I love this movie.”

“I’ve never seen it,” Cam says.

I gasp. “What? That’s insane. We’re watching it since I get to choose.”

“Okay,” he says. “I’ll make popcorn.”

He jumps up, but before going to the kitchen he gets a fluffy blanket out of the cabinet.

“In case you’re cold,” he says, opening it and covering me with it.

I smile. “Thank you.”

“You’re welcome.” He pauses. I get the feeling he wants to say something else.

“Popcorn?” he asks, clearing his throat.

I nod. “Sure.”

I sink into the sofa, pulling the blanket around me. This might be one of the best nights I’ve had in as long as I can remember. Cam has gone above and beyond to make me feel welcome. I don’t want it to end.

He returns with a bowl of popcorn and two bottles of water.

“Cam, thank you for tonight,” I say, placing my hand on his arm. “It’s been perfect after a very long week.”

“Thank you for texting me,” he says.

Our gazes lock, and a wave of exhilaration washes over me as different thoughts flash through my mind. Is Cam going to kiss me? Should I kiss him or at least give him a sign I want him to kiss me? I think he knows—how could he not?

“Should we start the movie?” I ask slowly.

“Yeah.”

Cam and I have moved closer to each other so we can share the popcorn bowl.
