Dean laughed bombastically. “Holy hell, she’s talking to her wolf. She can talk to her wolf!”

I shot him a look. “Shut up! I’m trying to concentrate!”

His laughter quickly died down, but the excitement behind his eyes continued to blossom.

Was that not something every shifter could do?

Brody, I need you to open your mind more. Channel your energies into your skull.

WE CAN SEE THROUGH HIS EYES THAT WAY, BUT HE HAS TO BE WILLING.

If you can do it long enough, I can see through your eyes. I may be able to pinpoint where you are if I can see what you see.

Hudson crouched in front of me. “Talk to us. What’s happening?”

My brain pulsed with pain. “Wolfy is trying to get me to get Brody to open up his mind so I can see through his eyes. Give me a second.”

Levi shook his head. “I can’t believe you can talk to your wolf. That hasn’t been around for?—”

“Eons,” Dean said with a sparkle in his voice.

I blinked. “You guys don’t talk to your wolf?”

Hudson shook his head. “None of us do. It’s not separate from us.”

“Do you hear it’s voice in your head?” Levi asked.

He looked like a damn kid in a candy shop, and it gave me pause. “Yes…?”

“Ha-HA!” Dean exclaimed as he clapped his hands. “That’s brilliant. Seriously. It’s absolutely amazing.”

“And dangerous,” Levi said flatly.

“Dangerous?” I asked.

Hudson rubbed my back. “Don’t worry about that now. Just focus on the task at hand.”

“Right, right,” I said breathlessly.

Save the cousin first, ask mounds of questions later.

Okay, there. That’s all the energy I’ve got.

“Raven! Fuck!” Dean exclaimed.

The second Brody opened himself up to me, my back arched. I bent at the knees as someone threaded their arms beneath my back, and my neck tilted at such an odd angle I thought it might snap. My eyes rolled into the back of my head as another world completely materialized behind my darkened eyelids. And as I gazed around at my surroundings, I was able to draw out bits and pieces that seemed out of place.

“What is it?” Hudson asked. “What do you see?”

I swallowed hard. “It’s so dark. There are steel bars that seem to twinkle in front of me.”

“Shit, they have him encased in silver,” Hudson murmured.

“No wonder he can’t heal,” Dean said breathlessly.

“Anything else?” Levi asked.

I shook my head. “The walls are red, but wood? Red wood? And it’s cold. But wait… I hear something.”
