I looked at him and smiled, “Yep. Gregory Anderson of Anderson Law based out of Colorado.

I held back the giggle that almost escaped my mouth at the way his face paled.

I followed them out of the bar as they loaded Abel into the back of the cop car, and once he was out of sight I raced back into the bar, Frank nodded, “We got the bar. Go get your hubby out.”

Thankfully, I had my Jeep today since I was planning to go to Isla’s for girls’ night after our shift.

I was sitting in a hard plastic chair in the police department when the door opened, and Mr. Anderson came through the door.

I was up and out of my seat, his arms around me.

He leaned his head down, and whispered, “So, my dear, what all shall we get them on?”

“I think targeting will be apt. They didn’t even have the warrant and under law they are to provide the warrant, they refused to do so. He’s done seven years in the pen for beating the hell out of man that was hurting Caelan.”

He nodded, “Good man you have there, Birdie. Okay, let me go do my magic.

Not even fifteen minutes later Abel was walking out of the police station, laughing with Mr. Anderson.

I was rushing over to him; he opened his arms as I barreled into him.

In my hair he whispered, “I think we need to have a talk about just who you have in your back pocket.”

I smirked. Well, really, Miss Maggie had him in her back pocket.

I looked at Mr. Anderson and asked, “How shall I bill you?”

He looked down at me and winked, “Nothing my dear. This was fun.”

We both laughed at him.

Then we all sobered when he looked at me, “I have something for you. I was hoping to get here for your wedding to give it to you, however, the case hadn’t ended as fast as I had hoped.”

I tilted my head, “What is it?”

“It’s in my car, follow me.” With my arm wrapped around Abel’s back and his around mine, we followed Mr. Anderson out.

Once we made it to his car, he opened the back door, and handed me a letter, “I was advised to give this to you on your wedding day.”

With Abel at my side, I opened the letter and felt tears hit my eyes as I started to read.

My Dearie,

I know you’re probably tired of this saying. But it is accurate.

If you’re reading this… that was the part.

Then you have just married a man that I hope is the epitome of all your dreams.

It does my heart good just thinking about this.

I know that you wore the pearl necklace as you’re something old.

And if you ever happen to see Rich again, tell him, I don’t regret a thing.

The only thing I have ever thought about changing was the fact you were not born of the both of us.
