A knockout blonde woman came up to Jacks, wrapping her arms around his stomach. Yeah, this was his woman. No wonder the men weren’t looking at all the available pussy at the bar when they had women like these already in their beds. No way would these men fuck that up.
“Hey. Who’s this?” the woman asked.
“Nyx, this is Emery, Jacks’ woman.”
I looked back up at Raid. “The arm around her gave it away.”
Raid chuckled. “Smartass.”
God, that felt good. I knew coming here that I could only bemeto a degree. But I also knew I couldn’t be weak around the members of this club. They were badass, and I wasn’t stupid. The meek and timid would not work here. They wouldn’t respect me, and in my core I really wanted them to. To have them see me as a pussy, hurt somewhere deep.
“Hey,” I said to Emery, and she smiled sweetly.
“Gotta go find Dad,” Raid said and started moving through the crowd. Eyes seemed to be on me. I was an interloper and was now on all their radars.
Way to stay hidden, Nyx.
The cake came into view, and I felt myself stop. Indie was right. She did an amazing job with the bike. It was the size of a real bike sitting up on a table, and the detail was impeccable. If I hadn’t known it was cake, I’d have thought Raid’s dad could’ve got on it and rode away.
Raid turned around, seeing why I stopped. “That’s amazing.” I got up on my toes and put my lips close to his ear. “Every line and detail is so real.”
“Indie’s a magician when it comes to cakes.”
“Yeah.” Had to admit, I was mesmerized by it.
“Let’s go,” he said, his hand in mine. We moved through the crowd to a large number of men and women standing in a circle near the cake.
I knew some of the men. One included the president of the club along with the vice president. The twin men had to be related to Raid, which would mean Buzz and Breaker, but no way I could tell them apart. They had no distinguishing marks like Raid and Ax had. The women continued smiling even when they saw me on Raid’s arm. Or, well, hand.
“Hey, old man,” Raid said, walking up to the twin on the left which must have been his father. The other was his uncle. I could see where Raid’s good looks came from.
Raid released me and wrapped his arms around the man, hitting his back a few times. I knew his father was Buzz, just from the gossip at the bar.
Raid released his father and went to the woman at his side, wrapping himself around her and then kissing her cheek. Yeah, that was his mother. I didn’t know anything about her, not even her name, but I could see the love in her eyes for Raid.
Raid came to me, grabbed my hand, and pulled me right up to his parents.
What in the Sam hell was going on here? Meeting the parents. That was something couples did. Not fuck buddies. I hadn’t done this, ever. Never gotten close enough to anyone to “meet the parents.”
Yes, this was a bad idea.
“This is Nyx.”
Buzz lifted his chin at me, and I nodded.
“Hello. I’m Bella, Raid’s mom.” The woman held out her hand, and I took it, feeling the softness of hers. “Nyx.”
She released me and stepped back to her husband. They were studying me, and I wondered what they could see. What I exposed just standing here.
The broken woman inside, the one who fought back like the badass she was, the one hiding from the world, or the one seeking revenge from the past.
When they didn’t say anything else, Raid then introduced me to everyone around us. I was good with names, so at least if they came into the bar, I’d be able to use it.
I met Raid’s uncle and aunt, Cooper and his woman, Bristyl. Nox and his woman Carsyn. GT and a woman named Angel, who looked like she was one. Austyn and Ryker, Tug and Blaze, and then I had to pause just for a second, seeing a man who would snap me in two pieces.
“This is Rhys and Tanner,” Raid said, shaking hands with the man and giving the woman a kiss on the cheek. Which he seemed to do with all the women here.
Rhys lifted his chin, and fuck if he wasn’t a sight. I’d seen scary, but damn, he was high on the list.
