“Nope,” Ax responded. “Found out just now, like you.”

Surfer boy turned back to Raid and grinned. “Nice.”

“Nice?” I responded. That was one thing I’d never been called.

“Yeah.” A woman came up next to the Surfer boy who wrapped his arm around her.

“Hey. I’m Katie,” she introduced herself. She was beautiful too. There must have been a requirement to be with a man with the Ravage MC: must be hot or beautiful to be part of the club.

“Nyx,” I responded.

“Hey, beautiful,” Surfer boy said, looking down at the woman who smiled brightly.

Katie’s hand went to his chest, and love lit her eyes. She had it too. The love and adoration of the man. Lucky woman.

“Nyx, that’s Dryerson. One of the brothers,” Raid told me.

I guessed the brother part from the leather and his presence.

“At least I don’t have to keep calling him surfer boy in my head anymore,” I responded to Raid.

Laughter burst all around. “That’s what I called him too,” Katie told me on a smile.

“Are you?” I asked, considering we were in Georgia. You had to drive a ways to get to the beach. “A surfer, I mean.”

“Not really. Just a look I guess.” Dryerson shrugged.

“Come on,” Raid said, pulling my hand. “At this rate, we’ll never get inside.”

He wasn’t kidding because before we made it into the building, I met another one of the guys from last night named Green. Didn’t ask why that was his name, but I was curious. And his woman Leah. She was on the quiet side, and I could feel she had a dark past.

Sometimes I could read those women who’d lived a fucked up life. There was a certain glint in their eye. Personally, I hated seeing it because it meant something bad had happened to them. It was a look I knew far too well.

It was a club none of us wanted to belong to, but also comforting to know I wasn’t alone.

And the way Green looked at her like the sun rose and set in her, it was nice to know that it was possible to live a different life. I was happy she had that.

Entering the clubhouse, music was playing not nearly as loud as at Bimbo’s. One could actually talk to another without screaming.

It was a much larger space than I thought from the outside. A large bar off to the right with chairs against it, mostly filled. To the left was a large seating area, and off that was a large dance floor that expanded into an even larger room.

There was a thrash of people all around. Tons of leather and booze. Felt like home considering I practically lived at the bar.

Raid, of course, knew everyone. His family was huge. Even when I had my mom, it was just us. Never anything like this. There must have been fifty plus people, which was a lot.

Even though I was used to large crowds at the bar, this was a bit overwhelming.

I knew it was because of the family aspect. I’d never done well in that area.

“Jacks!” Raid yelled, clapping hands and bumping chests with the man from last night.

“Hey, bud, You all good?” he asked Raid, and I really wanted to know what everyone was talking about. Was Raid in danger yesterday when he wasn’t with me? Was he hurt?

“Yep.” Riad pulled me closer. “This is Nyx.”

“We met last night.”

Raid’s brow raised. “They had like five guys last night. It was a mini party I guess,” I said on a shrug, and he chuckled.
