Page 47 of Promise to Break

From my peripheral vision, I see Raven and Liam following. Her giggles make me want to punch Killian even more, the fucker.

When I try to escape, he says, "If you don't want me to take you over my shoulder and spank you in front of everyone, you'll come with me. Have I made myself clear?"

"I see you're fine, so let me go," I argue halfheartedly. I don't really want to leave him alone, and that bugs me.

"You're freezing. You're not going anywhere looking like that." Did he just look at my boobs, that fucking bastard?

I walk beside him unwillingly, each step childlike. My feet are going to hate me for the way I'm stomping across the grounds and then into the house. I didn't even bother to look for my shoes. There's no way I'm going inside those heels of hell again after all the running I did in them.

The truth is, I need to know he's really okay, and if he won't go to a doctor, he at least needs someone to look after him. And you want to be that someone, don't you? The voice taunts again.

I don't take the time to look where I'm going as the twin opens one of the many doors in the upstairs hallway we're in, but overall, it feels the same as walking through the Fierro mansion.

"You can stay here as long as you need, and I can call my doctor if you want," the twin suggests to Killian again. Killian opens the wooden door, letting Liam and Raven in ahead of us. I hadn't even realized they were following.

For the first time since entering the house, I let myself take in my surroundings, if only because I don't want to look at Killian.

"Wait for me here," he says. "I need to brush my teeth." Then he walks off, leaving us alone.

"What the hell was all that about?" Liam asks.

"Killian can't swim," Raven supplies.

"Shut up, Ugly Birdy." Liam sounds so hateful. I can't imagine how she'll ever deal with being married to him.

"Enough," I say. "You are not going to speak to her like that. I don't care about your weird fetish for chupacabras. If you can't see her beauty, that's fine. But you'll stop humiliating her."

"It's fine," Raven tries to assure me.

"It's not, and you know it." I take a second to catch my breath and look at this hotel-like room. Not that I've seen many. I stayed in a fancy hotel on the day of Serena's wedding, but this room is even more impressive. It speaks luxury without trying too hard, with its huge bed and the beautiful view of the tall trees that block the party from the house.

"Here he comes," Raven murmurs, as if I can't see the door of the bathroom opening. Judging by the time he was in there, I suspect he took a quick shower. I know I want hot water more than anything right now. Studying his face, I see the shocked man isn't here anymore. His god-like persona is back.

"You." I flinch at his voice as he starts toward me. I know I'm going to pay for what I did, even though I was the one who asked him to leave me alone.

"Mate, I didn't do a thing to her. She was nearby."

Apparently, Killian's wrath isn't meant for me or for what I did. He's mad at Liam. Good.

"She'll stay untouched. I promised you that." I can't see the look that passes between the two, but from the look on Raven's face, it can't be good.

"I need to lie down," Killian replies. "I'll deal with you later. Rav, stay away from him for now." He isn't asking. Killian Fierro issues orders like the mafia prince he is. If my complete attention wasn't on his body wrapped in a towel at the waist and his health, I would probably think about Raven and her situation, but for the life of me, I can't. I stop breathing until he lays his perfect body on the bed. Soiling it with the stench of chlorophyll.

Raven goes to him. "You need a doctor, Kill. Let me call mine. He won't say a thing,"

"He works for your dad," Liam, the asshole, adds unnecessarily. "Of course he will."

"I don't need a doctor. I just need a few minutes."

I don't know what makes me get closer to him, but I move to the side of the bed as fast as I can and kneel next to Killian. On any other day, I wouldn't dare to put myself in such a position. On any other day, he would make some lude remark about me sucking him off, but he says nothing. Fuck, he must feel bad.

"You can't lay down like that," I begin. "Your head needs to be elevated. You vomited. It can happen again. You need supervision." I push myself up in order to arrange the pillows under him, just like I did numerous times with Serena. He lets me move around him without uttering a word, and that tells me he definitely needs a doctor, if only because he doesn't yell at me for what I did to him.

"Here, I think that will be good," I say as I kneel again in order to put another pillow under his head. "I really think you need to see someone. Liam, you need to wake him every two hours and ask him questions. I don't think he hit his head, but the fact he vomited may suggest I missed something. I wasn't in my right mind," I admit out loud.

After a moment, I say, "I should probably get going." I try to get up, knowing that the last person he would want by his side is the one who caused him to fall into the pool.

Killian grabs me by the hand so fast I don't even have time to move. Hard. The fucker. "You're not going anywhere."
