Chapter 17

Blue groaned when her body jolted hard against an unforgiving surface. Pain rushed through her as she slowly became alert. When she opened her eyes and was unable to see anything because a piece of cloth covered her eyes.

Panic filled her and she screamed only to find the sound muffled by a gag. Slowly, her memory began to come back to her causing fear to fill her. There was only one person who could be responsible for this.

How had Hawk gotten onto the compound unnoticed? Did Rock and Stone know she was missing? Could they find her?

Remembering her cell phone in her back pocket she went to reach for her cellphone only to scream with pain. Her wrists were bound but something was wrong with her right shoulder and arm.

She tried to slow her breathing in an attempt to fight the discomfort. Being calm was her best bet to get out of this. She just had to stall long enough for help to get to her. No matter how long it took.

Stone and Rock would come for her.

She was pulled from her thoughts by the sound of a loud pop. Then the vehicle swerved before coming to a hard stop. Her groan of pain was interrupted by loud voices and cussing. The sound of a car door opening and then slamming made her realize that she was in the trunk.

She cringed when someone yanked the trunk door upward. Instinctively she made herself as small as possible.

“Shut the fuck up. I gotta move this bitch to get to the—”

Whatever else Mack was going to say was cut off by a barrage of gunfire. He grunted in pain then the weight of his body fell on top of her. She began to scream, not caring that her mouth was muffled. Whoever was shooting didn’t know she was in the trunk and she could be shot as well.

She was so intent on making as much noise as possible that she didn’t realize the gunfire had stopped. Then the body was lifted off her. Next, the blindfold was removed. When she realized it wasn’t anyone she recognized, she opened her mouth to scream again.

“Blue? Hey, you’re okay. I’m going to take the gag out of your mouth but no screaming okay.”

She nodded. Anything to get a good breath of air so that she could yell again if needed. Her rescuer kept his word and quickly removed the gag. She sucked in a good unimpeded breath.

“Are you okay? Are you hit?”

“Who are you?” she asked warily, ignoring his question.

One corner of his mouth curved upward in a smile that gentled his rough features.

“I’m Magnum. V.P. of the Undertakers.”

Confusion filled her. “The Undertakers. Why are you—”

“You can have that bitch. She isn’t worth all this trouble. Just let me go.”

She was distracted by the sound of Hawks' voice.

“Don’t worry,” Magnum said. “We have him restrained. I need to make sure you’re okay before I move you.”

She shook her head as tears filled her eyes. “How do I know you won’t hurt me?”

He chuckled. “Rock told me to tell you something crazy as fuck. But he swore it was something you’d understand.”
