“He’s too busy to bring us anything.”

Before I walk away, I look back at Ethan again. He bursts out laughing, and the woman appears to giggle, batting her eyelashes at him.

I can’t keep watching this. I shouldn’t care what Ethan’s doing, I should be out here doing the same thing. But for some reason, my eyes linger on the woman he’s so infatuated with. Why should he get to call dibs? Maybe the girl should get to choose for herself.

The thought of walking up to them comes to mind. It makes me curious what kind of woman she is if she has Ethan smiling like a deranged monkey.

Before I can walk up to them, Ethan nods at the woman, turns, and walks towards us with drinks in hand. His expression is full of amusement as he sets the glasses down. Logan takes one and practically chugs it.

“You look crazy right now. You hit it off with that woman?” I ask Ethan.

“Is it that obvious?”

“Yeah, you kinda look like someone that just did six lines of coke.”

“Don’t exaggerate. I’m just enjoying myself a little.”

Logan chimes in. “Are you going to sit with us or spend the rest of the night with that woman?”

“Someone’s already moody,” I mutter.

Logan whips his head to me, staring menacingly. I hold my hands up in peace.

Ethan sneers. “I’ll go back to her once you both find someone to chase.”

“So, what’s the pretty girl’s name?”

“Jade. Before you ask, yes, she’s single. And I have a feeling that she’s not from LA.”

I perk up. “Really? Sounds like she could use a personal guide.”

Sensing an opportunity, I get up from the table and swoop in to introduce myself to her before Ethan can stop me. I ignore him calling after me. It’s too late now. The charm is turned on, and she already has her eyes on me.

Perfect.

Her eyes travel up and down my body. She sips on the straw of her margarita, fluttering her eyelashes while raising a curious brow. I smile at her and nod my head while biting my lower lip.

“I’m Ryan,” I say as I take the empty seat next to her.

“Jade. Are you here to buy me another drink?”

“Of course. I don’t like drinking alone after all.”

I can finally see her face clearer, and fucking hell, no wonder Ethan instantly noticed her. I can also understand why he didn’t want to tear his attention away from her.

“Damn, you have beautiful eyes,” I say, noticing every golden fleck in her irises.

She shrugs, acting bashful. “You’re not the first to compliment them.”

“I wouldn’t be surprised. You even got Ethan under a spell.”

“Oh, so you’re one of the friends he’s with?”

I nod. “In the flesh. I thought it was rude of him to leave you all by yourself, so I came to give you company.”

“That was nice of you, but he did say he was going to be back.”

“Don't worry, I can take him on just fine, sunshine.”
