The conviction in his voice took me off guard. It reminded me of my words back at the diner when I asked Mario to let me go to Lorcan because he was the magic that calmed me. I may not have realized it at first, but being in his presence, spending that night in his bed and in his arms, was like a lullaby to my soul. And the idea that I could get attached quickly to him shook me to my core. I continued our easy banter.
“So what do you have planned for us when we get to the hotel? You must keep me entertained, or I’ll keep you very, very busy.”
“We can start with the outdoor hot tub and a bottle of champagne.”
“Really? That’s the best you can—Aieee!”
I jumped onto his lap with a shriek. The concrete slab was sliding to reveal a glass floor. I buried my face in the crook of his neck.
“This...I don’t want to look.”
“I got you.” He pressed the emergency button and asked the operator to close the revolving floor. “So fear of heights?”
"Open heights. But I did good today.” I grinned.
“You were splendid. No one would even know heights were a thing.”
“Now you are just lying to make me feel better.”
“Did it work?”
“Hell yeah.” I pressed my lips to his. “What about you? I take it you are a fan of extreme sports?”
“Something like that.” He shifted nervously, his hands sliding from my waist to my ass. I raised a questioning brow. “I quit racing. I still do ironman, surfing, bungee jumping, and the like.”
“You were a professional racer?”
“No. Illegal street racing.”
“I see.” I dragged the words out. His irises bounced anxiously and his grip on my ass tightened. It was obvious he didn’t want to talk about it, but he’d seen me cry twice today. I deserved something embarrassing on him. “So why did you—?”
A low chime sounded overhead as the car docked at the disembarking station. This conversation wasn’t over, though. As soon as we were settled in at the hotel, I would grill him.
“Hold on tight,” Lorcan cautioned.
I hooked my legs behind his hips as he walked up the steps into the hotel suite and nudged the door open with his foot. We gasped at the close-to-fictional three-sixty view of the rugged nature, powdered with freshly fallen snow.
It was majestic. Stefan had surpassed whatever imagination one may have had about this exclusive one-room-only resort. Forget the pyramids or the Taj Mahal, this was the top wonder of the world. Serenity merged with breathtaking beauty and transported you to a place and time where your life was worry-free. You feel lighter, you breathe freer, you commune with your soul.
“Wow, this place is…”
“I know,” Lorcan whispered, capturing my mouth in an electric kiss.
I tasted his softness and hunger, felt his hardness and urgency. We moaned and purred as our tongues tangled in heat and passion, soaring and taking us to that dimension where we were one. This kiss had no beginning and no end. We were one wave of euphoria.
“Damn. You know how to kiss,” I murmured, catching my breath.
“Ditto.”
“So where’s that hot tub you promised?”
“Okay. Don’t freak out. But the floor is made of…”
“Come on.”
“Bed?”
“Yeah.”
