“Oh, shit. What did you say?” I ask and he chuckles.
“How is it being back home?”
“Yeah, man. It’s okay I guess,” I say as I lean against the bathroom counter.
“Just, okay?” I hear Sterling chime up from the background and I laugh.
“Hi, Sterling,” I holler over the speaker.
“She sayshello. So?” Callan brings us back to the question he’d asked me.
“I mean. Things have been…good.” I smile looking back out at the stunner laying in my bed. “I got a job I like. And, well, things kind of blew up with my family. Thanks to me,” I add.
“I’m sorry, Jax.” I can hear Callan sigh like he might actually care about my family imploding. I never really talked too much about them when I was living with my dad.
“Hold the fucking phone. Did Callan David just express sympathy?” I quip with a smirk on my face.
“He’s been getting better at it by the month,” Sterling tacks on sarcastically and we both chuckle.
“Shut up you two,” Callan says, and I hear Hollis shuffling around in the bed.
“Ugh, I’m wounded,” I whisper in hopes not to wake her up, pressing my palm to my heart to feign disappointment.
“So, did you find the girl?” Callan asks and I can’t help the way I react just thinking about her.
I thought my chances of ever trying to fix things with her were ruined the moment she kicked me off her property. But I’m thankful I didn’t give up on her, or on us. Afterall, she’s mywonderwall. I smile thinking about the night I played the guitar for her and how that might have been the moment I realized I truly had her again.
“Yeah, man. I did,” I respond right as Hollis sits up from her slumber and looks over at me through the open door with the sexiest, hooded eyes. Her hair is a mess and I dip my head and turn back to the mirror as I try to keep my smile to myself.
“Wooooo! I can’t wait to meet her. I’ll tell her about the time you came into Callan’s office and-” Sterling says before I hear the phone drop and Callan cuts her off. “That’s enough out of you,” he tells her and I hear Sterling laugh.
“Still on the phone!” I holler, hoping he didn’t ditch me to go play-tickle his fiancé.
“Right.” He picks the phone back up. “Hey, have you checked your mail lately?”
“Um, no. Why?” I ask, feeling warm hands wrap around my waist.
I look in the mirror to see my girl standing behind me, her head pressed gently into my back.
“I mailed you something, and I really need you to get on it.”
“I thought you quit being my boss when I left the company, Cal,” I deadpan.
“Just check your fucking mail and text me your answer,” he says.
“My answer, huh? Now I’m interested.” Hollis runs her hands up and down my chest as she stands behind me, and I feel my dick jump as she drops them lower and lower.
I spin around, making us chest to chest and a smile creeps up on her face mischievously.
“Whatever, talk to you later,” I say to Callan before clicking the phone shut.
Once I set the phone down, I grab Hollis by the ass and lift her up to wrap her legs around me.
“Morning, baby,” I say to her as I kiss her forehead.
“Who was that?” she asks in a sexy, husky morning voice.
I turn us around so I can set her down on the bathroom sink. She keeps her legs wrapped around me and I brush her messy hair out of her face.
