“Emmett? You found me?”

“I'll always find you, sweetheart.”

She lunged forward, wrapping her arms around me and curling her tiny form into me.

“I have to leave,” she whispered. “Before Thomas finds out what I've done. It would have been easier if you hadn't found me.”

Pain sliced through my heart. After all this she was planning to just leave me? I wasn't about to let that happen.

“You're not going anywhere, sweetheart. Well, home. I'm taking you home.”

A sob escaped her as she cried into my shoulder.

“I love you, Emmett, but I can't go back to Collier Pack now, and I could never live with myself if I took you away from there. Your family and friends are there, it's your life, but it can never be mine.”

I shook my head.

“He found her!” Kano shouted.

Paige gasped as everyone ran in to see. The room wasn't that big, so a few people were straining to see from outside.

“I can't believe I didn’t notice this room right away. Look, there's a hole in the floor. Is that where he kept you?” Walker asked.

“Where is Eugene?”

“Long gone if he knows what's good for him,” I growled.

Walker approached to investigate the hole, but Paige shook her head in protest.

“Please don't go down there,” she begged.

The panic in her eyes told me what she couldn't.

“I'm going to take her back to the house,” I said to no one in particular.

No one argued or tried to stop me.

I moved to help her up and growled in frustration.

“Why the hell can't you just lift this order already?”

“Not until we get to the bottom of this. I'm sorry,” Thomas told me.

Paige hung tightly to my arm as he watched us curiously.

“You did say you found ways around my order.”

“I can't touch her, but she can touch me.”

“I'm sorry, man. It'll hopefully all be resolved soon. Paige, I just need to ask you one question. Were you brought here against your will?”

She nodded. “I'm not even sure how. He threw a rock at my head, and I blacked out. When I came to, I was down there.”

“Was it Eugene?”

She nodded again but a tremble went through her body.

“You find him, Thomas. I'm going to kill that asshole.”
