I took another bite of my omelet before I answered. “You helped me to get out of my comfort zone. I always thought men like Ethan were the guys that I should be dating, even that I wanted to date. I thought I could and wanted to live a simple life but I can see that things aren’t going to be simple with you. I could have easily married Ethan, had a few kids, been a successful lawyer, and lived a quiet, boring life. I might have even been happy because I didn’t know anything different.

“You showed me there’s more to life. There can be passion and excitement. You showed me that when you find something that you love with all that you are, you fight for it. You do whatever you can to be with it. I feel as if I’m seeing myself, who I can be, and who I want to be for the first time. All because of you.”

“Wow. And here I just thought it was because I’m excellent in bed.”

“Well, that too,” I said and we both laughed.

“So, what do you want to do today?” Luke asked as he finished his omelet.

“Why don’t you tell me what we can do?”

“Lots of things.” Luke stood up and took our plates with him to the sink. I took the rest of the dishes and helped him put them in the dishwasher.

“There’s the pool that’s heated. We can hang there and take a swim. While we’re in the water, I can make love to you.”

I closed the dishwasher and leaned up against it. “That sounds like a lovely way to spend the day.”

Luke moved so he was standing in front of me. He put his hand on either side of me, trapping me between him and the counter. I smiled up at him as he dropped a kiss to my neck.

“We could go take a walk on the beach and find a secluded spot and I could make love to you.”

“Oh, really?” I teased.

He moved his mouth to the other side of my neck. “We could take the jet-ski out. There are a few islands that are deserted. We could pack a picnic lunch and make a day out of it. Maybe find a nice shaded area, and I could make love to you.”

“I can sense a pattern forming here. Are there any activities you would like to do that don’t involve you getting me naked?”

“None that I want to entertain,” Luke said and I laughed. He sucked on my ear before whispering. “Do you not like my ideas?”

“They’re the best ideas I’ve ever heard.” I ran my hands along his hips and to his ass giving it a soft squeeze.

“I was hoping you would say that. Why don’t we give it a little test drive?” Luke brought his hands to my hips and lifted me up on the kitchen counter.

My hands tightened around his hips as his mouth moved to mine. My body was already responding to his touch and what was going to happen. His mouth was inches from mine when the sound of a phone ringing killed the moment.

Luke dropped his head down and stepped away from me. “Hold that thought,” he said and went to answer the phone.

I did as Luke asked and stayed on the counter waiting for him to come back. When after a few minutes he hadn’t, I jumped down and cleaned up the kitchen and countertop. By the time he had gotten back, the kitchen was spotless and I was working on cutting up more fruit.

“Here I was disappointed you weren’t where I left you but you made such excellent use of the time while I was gone, I can’t be too upset.”

“The more I get done, the more time I can spend with you naked,” I said, putting the knife down and looking at him. I could see the concern on his face and asked. “Who was on the phone?”

“Hector,” Luke said and took a strawberry from the bowl.

“Oh no. Is everything okay?” I asked.

“Hector and Marci were right. It appears everyone has food poisoning. So, the good news is, it isn’t some horrible disease that would require them to stay on the boat or a deep cleaning once it had passed.”

“But the bad news is they still have food poisoning and are feeling horrible,” I added.

“Exactly. The worst seems to have passed. They should be feeling better soon.”

“Does that mean that they will be coming to the island?” I tried not to keep the disappointment out of my voice but I didn’t do a good job.

“Yes,” Luke said. “But not for a few more days. Hector thinks they won’t be up to doing much, at least until Tuesday, at the earliest.”

“Do they want to come to the island or are they going to head back to Florida?”
