“Yes. I’m thinking.” Tapping her lip with the paper, her hands trembled. Adrienne gripped the flyer and turned it over to find the times and date along with the address and grinned widely.

“Adrienne, what are you thinking?”

“I think I should show up.”

“What? I thought you were giving it another week until you gave him your answer.”

Adrienne flapped the flyer in the air. “Well, it is my work. Seems only right that I should be there.” Oh, she would be there alright. And she would be dressed to impress. Noah would regret messing with her. “Let’s go shopping,” she grinned.

Mhane’s smile was evil. “Now you’re talking,” she whooped and raced through to her room undoubtedly mentally making a list of things Mhane thought she would need and half of them Adrienne wouldn’t.

“Let’s go shopping,” Mhane shouted and shot a look at the door when they heard a groan come from behind it. “Briar honey, you can hold my bags,” Mhane shouted with a laugh.

“You shouldn’t tease him,” Adrienne commented.

“Believe me, he needs it. He’s got a stick up his butt that one,” Mhane laughed.

“Only with you,” Adrienne said because it was true.

Briar was usually quiet and charming, but all of that went out the window with Mhane where he tended to look at Mhane like she had disappointed him.

“Clothes, come on.” Mhane snapped her finger with a slightly manic smile on her face. “You’re going to look smoking.” Mhane grinned. “We’ll grab a couple of hotties tonight.”

Adrienne had no idea if Mhane heard Briar swearing. If she did, she was ignoring it. Adrienne grabbed a pair of jeans and a top and got herself dressed, but she had no intention of getting a ‘hottie.’

Three hours later, Adrienne tucked the decadent gold material around her hips. Briar’s eyes widened as she placed the gold circlet on her head. Briar choked back a laugh. “He’ll go mad!”

Adrienne frowned.

Mhane smacked Briar on the arm, his lips lifted in a snarl which Mhane pointedly ignored.

“Ignore him You look divine.” Mhane hooked her arm in Ren’s, and Adrienne automatically flinched when she referred to herself as Ren.

It had become almost a habit because of Noah and now it came with bittersweet pain.

Adrienne smiled. “I know.” Adrienne laughed. “You’ll knock people dead in that dress.”

Mhane exhibited two main emotions, hyper-happiness and secretiveness which led to anger. Mhane was currently so happy she swung her bag towards Briar. It hit Briar’s chest and he caught it, growling as Mhane spun and laughed.

Adrienne stared at her in disbelief. Reconnecting with Mhane was a rollercoaster ride of emotions. It gave her a distraction, a safe place to stay while working through everything. Adrienne would always be grateful to Mhane for that.

She was half sure that only a handful of people would turn up to her show, but those that did would have a heart attack when they saw Mhane in her sheer black dress. The black panels covering Mhane’s breasts and groin showed Mhane’s toned stomach and beautiful long legs, highlighting her body perfectly.

Briar had wisely not commented, though his eyes had been so bright Adrienne thought he would strip Mhane and take her on the shop floor.

The sparks between those two were so hot that Adrienne had to take a step back or risk getting burned.

Nervous because these were her pieces, and she was ready. Adrienne felt fully prepared to dive in headfirst, take every criticism, and run with it, hopefully making better art as a result.

An hour later her insides were twisting, and she picked nervously at her dress, needing to do something with her hands.

Maybe she should have gone for something longer, a floor-length dress. Mhane’s dress was floor length, though it might as well not be there, and she had daringly put sheer black pencil line stockings on.

The lace was hugging her thighs and Adrienne blinked at her. “You are something else,” Adrienne whispered with humour.

Mhane struck a pose in front of her mirror. “You like?” Mhane grinned, eyebrows wiggling as she shook her booty.

“Jesus!” Adrienne laughed. “Don’t do that where Briar can see. He’ll probably bundle you up and take you back home.”
