She could start over again and get her art out into the world. Though, she didn’t think she could use any of the pieces at Moon. They depicted a life she had been immersed in and the last thing she needed was a room full of painful memories staring back at her.
She saw a mask slip into place as Noah steeled himself. A cold and furious thing. Adrienne remembered that look from the warehouse when he was unsure and angry at everything. When Noah didn’t know what would happen from one moment to another.
She wanted to call him back but instead, she watched him leave and promised to resolve what she really felt for him and whether she could trust him enough to go back to him.
Mhane rushed over, reaching out her fingers to help Adrienne up. She saw Noah flinch toward her from the corner of her eye as she wobbled. However, Noah kept his promise to give her space, getting in the Jeep and driving off.
Adrienne let herself collapse as soon as he disappeared. “Adrienne,” Mhane cried.
Adrienne had barely held it together, only long enough for Noah to leave. She smiled weakly at Mhane. “I might need someone to carry me.”
“Owen,” Mhane shouted as Adrienne’s eyes rolled back in her head.
Chapter 15
“How do you feel?” Mhane asked tentatively.
How did she feel? Fine, but confused, and as she looked at a fading bruise on Mhane’s cheek, she scowled.
Mhane still kept disappearing regularly and it was killing Adrienne not to ask but she could tell her sister wouldn’t welcome questions. Even when she came home with bruises and lumps forming on her cheeks, she would give Adrienne a tight smile.
She was losing patience with it but didn’t want to risk alienating Mhane, so she said, “I’m fine. Why?”
Mhane grimaced and pulled out a piece of paper.
“What’s that?” Suspicion layered her voice.
Mhane gave her another tight smile, refusing to relinquish her prize.
“Tell me,” Adrienne demanded.
“I can’t.” Mhane tapped it on her hand, then said, “Promise me that you’re okay.”
“I promise,” Adrienne replied exasperatedly.
Mhane being the protective sister she was, almost crumpled the paper tightly in her fist which is how Adrienne knew she wanted to look at it.
“Show me,” she demanded again and Mhane handed over the flier.

“That bastard,” Adrienne exclaimed as she saw her pieces.
She had left them behind but thought they would be safe with Noah. Instead that crazy Number had set up an art show and had the balls to let the flier get to her on the day it opened. She wouldn’t be able to cancel it.
She couldn’t believe him.
“Adrienne?” Mhane asked hesitantly.
She shook her head. She couldn’t believe him.
“Adrienne?”
