"Yeah. What is it?"
"Your mom's here."
"My mom?" I jump up. Jackson looks surprised.
"Yeah. Can I let her in?"
"Sure," I say, rushing to the door.
My mom walks in and I feel nervous. Is she about to have another nervous breakdown?
"Mom, is everything okay? Is dad okay? Is..."
"I'm fine," she says, walking in, a bright smile on her face. "You look handsome."
"Thanks." I'm surprised by her words.
"Jackson, darling." She walks over to him and gives him a hug as he stands up. "So good to see you."
"Always a pleasure to see you, Mrs. Rosser," he says, kissing both of her cheeks. "You look absolutely radiant."
"Why thank you," she giggles. "Can I have a seat?"
"Of course, mom. Do you want anything?"
"No, I'm good." She sits and looks around the office. "Wow. It looks very nice in here and that view," she says, looking out the window.
I chuckle slightly at her comment. It reminds me of what Sarah had said when she'd first come into the office.
"What is it, dear?" She asked me.
"Oh, your comment. It just reminded me of someone I know."
"Oh?" She looks curious but doesn't say anything.
Jackson takes a seat again. "Someone I know as well?"
"Perhaps," I say, glaring at him. I'm not going to continue the Sarah conversation with him now.
"Would you like me to leave?" Jackson goes to stand up again. "Is this a private conversation or..."
"No, you can stay." She beams. "You are Ethan's best friend, and I'm sure he doesn't mind you being here."
"Not at all. I have no secrets from Jackson," I say.
"You don't?" He asks, and I just roll my eyes.
"What's going on, mom?"
"I just wanted you to know that I'm going to India."
"What?" I frown slightly. "What happened? Do you need money? What is going on?"
"I don't need anything dear. I'm going on a yoga and meditation retreat."
"You're doing what?" My jaw drops. "I'm confused."
"I'm divorcing your father."
