Carla had to forget about all that though. She hadn’t gone on another date since, both because she’d been busy and because there was no way that she wouldn’t compare any woman she met to Ashley.

Carla clearly needed more time to forget about that night, and tonight was going to be a quiet Friday evening in. She might order a curry from her favorite Indian restaurant and watch a movie.

She had planned on staying here, in her office, for a few hours, but right now, she just wanted to get home and change into something more comfortable.

Carla closed the lid on her laptop and slid it into her messenger bag along with the essays she needed to grade. With one last look around her office, she grabbed her keys and left, pulling the door closed behind her, ready to lock it, when she bumped into someone in the hall, their shoulder colliding with Carla’s back.

Carla turned to apologize but her breath caught in her throat when she met Ashley’s mesmerizing blue eyes.

Carla couldn’t speak, momentarily dazed by the fact that Ashley was standing in front of her.

Ashley’s eyes were wide, almost as if she was equally surprised to be running into her. Was it possible that Ashley was a secretary and Carla just hadn’t realized it? Could she be a friend or a relative of one of Carla’s colleagues?

Carla was grasping at straws here, but anything was better than the obvious explanation, that Ashley was a student. Maybe even her student. That couldn’t be true. Could it?

Carla swallowed. She had hundreds of students, and she only knew twenty or thirty of them personally, mainly because they’d sought out her advice and met Carla in her office.

Carla had so many questions she wanted to ask, but she couldn’t think, her pulse swishing in her ears. She glanced to her left and then her right, the hallway empty.

Carla reached behind her back and fumbled with the door handle, pushing the door open before finding Ashley’s hand and tugging her inside.

Ashley shut the door behind her, leaning back against it as she visibly swallowed. “I can explain.”

Carla blew out a breath, leaving her bag on her desk before turning to face Ashley, holding up her hand.

“Don’t say anything,” Carla said as she crossed the room to stand in front of Ashley.

“What? Why?”

Carla shook her head. “Not a word.” She knew what Ashley was going to say, and once she’d said it, everything would change. “I want to do this first,” Carla murmured. She reached up to lightly caress Ashley’s cheek before she leaned in, parting her lips against Ashley’s, kissing her slowly.

Ashley sighed into the kiss, her hands on Carla’s hips as they deepened the kiss.

Carla moaned when Ashley’s tongue found hers, and she lost herself in a kiss that she knew shouldn’t be happening.

Seven weeks. That’s how long it had been since Carla had kissed Ashley, since Carla had met Ashley at that wine bar. Since they’d had that unbelievable night together.

Chapter Thirteen

Ashley’s heart was still racing. Although now, it wasn’t from the shock of bumping into Carla. It was from kissing her.

Ashley had spent weeks lusting after her professor, desperate for another kiss, for another night together, and she still couldn’t believe this was happening.

When Carla had pulled her into her office, Ashley had been ready to confess it all, to apologize for what she’d done, but somehow Carla was kissing her?

Although, from what Carla said, she might have a clue.

Carla was still kissing her though. That had to count for something.

Ashley pushed all those thoughts away. Right now, Carla was kissing her, her lips demanding, maybe even a little desperate. Did that mean that Carla missed her as much as she had?

Ashley sighed when Carla’s hand slipped underneath her top, her nails dragging over Ashley’s stomach, their tongues searching, their breathing heavy.

Just when Ashley thought that things might be escalating, Carla pulled away, taking a step back, putting some space between them.

Ashley met her lust-filled gaze, searching Carla’s gorgeous face, trying to decide which way this was going to go.

Carla’s hand was on her forehead, then her neck as she started to pace. She fiddled with the silver pendant hanging from her neck before giving Ashley her attention, her eyebrows furrowed, her lips pursed.
