Page 59 of Straight to Me

Approaching a few bars, we spot three women walking towards us. They eye the God with me and giggle, temptingly flicking their hair and pushing their chests forwards as they pass him by.

“Wow,” I chuckle.

“I know. Did you see the state of them?” he says.

That wasn’t what I thought he was going to say. “You mean you didn’t enjoy the little eye fuck they gave you?” We cross the road, heading to where he left his bike.

“Believe it or not, I’m only interested in one woman eye fucking me.”

I smile a little to myself, looking down as we walk. I know full well he’s talking about me, but I still can’t fully believe it. “I’m talking about you,” he adds, as if reading my mind.

“I know. I’m just trying to wrap my head around your choices, that’s all.”

My confidence to accept that someone might find me attractive was at an all-time low when I lived with Bex. I was never shy of attention from men, I just didn’t think highly enough of myself to believe that they wanted anything more than a one-night stand. And considering Chris was only the second man I'd actually slept with, my experience with guys and hooking up is seriously lacking.

VP stops in his tracks, forcing me to slow with him. We’re stood near the barriers overlooking the sea. “My choices? You’re the most amazing woman I’ve ever met, you know that right?”

My heart skips a beat at his words, my eyes focusing on his.

“VP, you barely know me.”

“Listen, I know you well enough to know you’re what I want, I told you. And believe me when I say that I haven’t been with another woman since that night with you in the bar. It’s been only you.” He looks sincere. “Obviously a man has needs though.”

He changes the tone of conversation, pulling me close to him. One hand cups my bum as he leans on the barrier with the other. “There was a lot more self-care than I’d care to admit in those weeks before you got here. But no sex. You know what I mean.”

He looks hopeful I’ll answer the same.

“No, not exactly.”

His face suddenly flushes with worry and, what is that? Jealousy? “I didn’t have sex,” I say rushed, putting his mind at ease and making him instantly relax. My hands wrap around his neck, stroking the back of his hair. His eyes widen as he expects me to tell him I looked after myself to the thought of him all the time. “But I didn’t, urm… you know.”

His mouth falls open. His expression is one of genuine shock that I didn’t touch myself. “Not even once?” he asks bewildered.

“No, I didn’t, because it’s… weird.”

Thing is, I know exactly how I like it. It was Chris who always said it was weird if a woman had to get herself off and I guess that rubbed off on me. “Stop looking at me like that,” I blush.

He pulls me even closer to him, squeezing my bum with his fingers. His lips edge closer to my ear. It's obvious by his rasping that he’s turned on.

“When I get you home,” I just know whatever’s about to come out of his mouth next is going to be filth. I start smiling at the thought, “Mads, you’re going to touch yourself, everywhere, whilst I watch.” My heart starts racing. “You’re going to moan my name whilst you make yourself come.”

The gasp that leaves me reflects how my body suddenly feels. A tight knot forms in my stomach. It’s exciting. My blood feels hot and ready, the thought of touching myself in front of him makes me nervous, then instantly red-hot with anticipation.

A fierce demanding sensation from deep within me stirs into life. He can see what he’s doing to me, to my body. “You’re all flushed,” he whispers, as I tighten my legs together, biting my lip in front of him. “Shall we skip the rest of this day, grab your stuff and get you back to mine?”

“I think you should, VP.”

Chapter Eighteen

VP lights a cigarette outside Jess’s house where he waits for me to pack an overnight bag. As I walk through the door, Jess’s voice reverberates off the walls, the tone of her voice more serious than I usually hear. “Look, if you’re in the office now, why can’t you just sort this?” She bangs her way down the stairs with Axl’s pyjamas in her hand.

Noting her tone and mood, I take the pyjamas and see to him for her. Jess walks through to the kitchen, shouting at the person on the other end of the phone. I pick up my chubby little nephew and can’t not enjoy a quick cuddle before getting him changed.

Cradling him in my arms in his fresh PJ’s, I walk to the front door to call to VP. “Come in for a sec. Jess’s on the phone. Might take a little longer before I’m ready.” He tosses the cigarette to the ground.

Back inside, we meet a stressed-out Jess in the lounge. “Everything okay?” I ask as Axl squirms for freedom. I put him on his feet and he toddles to his pile of toys.

“It was work. I’ve got to go in on Monday now. Someone’s messed up. Apparently, that’s my job to sort.”
