“Your girlfriend is crazy, cousin.”
“She’s not my girlfriend.” I took a sip of my beer.
“Oh, I’m sorry.” He cocked his head. “You invested in her bakery. You’re with her just about every day. She spends the night at your house more than one night at a time. You spend the night at her house and randomly kiss her in public. Sounds like a girlfriend to me.” He patted my shoulder and walked away.
My heart started racing as I stood there and thought about everything Simon said. I finished my beer, and Piper announced it was time to sing Happy Birthday to my brothers.
We all gathered on the deck of my boat while Zoey set the beautifully lit cake on the table. We sang Happy Birthday while Sebastian strummed the chords on his guitar.
CHAPTER 24
Zoey
“Moment of truth.” Conner grinned as he took a bite of the cake I handed him.
“Well?” I smiled.
He set down his plate and hugged me.
“Welcome to the family, Zoey.”
I laughed.
“This is the best fucking cake in the world!” he exclaimed.
“Better than Gwen’s?” A smirk crossed my lips.
“Sadly, yes. But I still have to try your coconut lime with a twist.”
“Then you’re in luck.” I grabbed a coconut lime cupcake and handed it to him.
“Stop it! This isn’t?—”
“Yes, it is.” I smiled.
He bit into the cupcake and immediately called his brothers over.
“Try this.” He shoved the cupcake at him.
“Holy shit,” Nathan spoke.
“It’s like an orgasm in your mouth, right?” Conner grinned.
“Fuck, Zoey,” Jackson said. “This is so damn good.”
“Absolutely the best.” Christian nodded. “You’re in.” He winked.
Carter walked over, grabbed a cupcake, and bit into it. I stared at him with a smile.
“Yep. I made the right decision.” He smiled as he walked away.
After sitting around and listening to the guys play some music, laughing, dancing, and having a wonderful day, it was time to head home.
“God, I love your family so much.” I smiled as we climbed into Carter’s car and drove back to his house.
“Yeah. They’re great. I’m happy you had a good time today.”
“I had a fantastic time.”
