He smiled and threw his napkin on his plate. “I guess our meeting is done. We remain friends for Kenna’s sake. I don’t care what you do in your personal time, as long as it doesn’t cause issues for our daughter. She’s my main concern now.”

I nodded and just like that, the lunch ended. He hopped in his vehicle and went his way, while I went mine.

Do’Thortn and I were scheduled for dinner that night to wrap up his time on Earth. His plans were to return within the week to Zorlox. We’d only seen each other in passing and during the long drawn out meetings.

Tonight, I wanted to impress the alien so I wore a blue dress to set off my eyes. The front plunged low, perhaps lower than it should, but I didn’t care. Jefferson and I were just friends and I was a free woman.

I stepped out of the car and Do’Thortn held open the door. His eyes nearly popped out of his head as I waltzed to him. “Hungry?”

“Uh, yes. I am. Are we having another buffalo steak?”

My hand slid through his arm as I giggled. “If that’s what you want. It’s your last week here, you can choose where we go.”

“There’s a dance we need to finish.” He eyed me as we strolled up the sidewalk.

Fresh electrical sensations coursed through my veins and down my spine, settling in my pelvis, warming my belly. My heart was about to explode with the possibilities of our relationship. We stood on the threshold of something great, fated, true love.

My nerves buzzed like I was in the presence of my secret crush from my teen years, way back before I ever met Jefferson Foster. Jefferson and I were like-minded and ultra focused on our political careers. There was no magic, no electricity between us. We came together out of a desire to climb the ladder and not because of love.

So caught up in Do’Thortn’s gaze, I didn’t notice the server coming up to take our order. He ordered for us both. We sat there staring into one another’s eyes, his hand reached across the table for mine.

“I am in a completely new place here.” My thoughts poured from my heart. But he, being an alien, didn’t understand my words.

“You’ve been here before, with me.” He looked at me with concern in his eyes.

I chuckled, my face burned a deep pink. “It’s a figure of speech. I’m sorry, we’ll need to adjust how we speak to each other. I mean, I’m a free woman now, not bound by marriage. I’m with a blue alien who now has my heart. Never in my life have I felt this way. It’s all new.” I spoke softly, my thumb rubbing the outside of his hand.

“It’s fate, Moxy. And it has surprised me too the moment I met you. We can’t control who our fated mates are. We just find out when we meet them.”

My eyes closed as I nodded. “This is all new to me. Honestly, I’ve never felt this in my life.”

The server interrupted us with our food. I blushed again, because I acted like such a sap. So unprofessional and yet so freeing. I rather liked the new sensations coursing through my veins and ruling my heart.

“And now, to finish the dance?” He stood and held out his hand. So very human-like. He’s a quick learner, watching old movies while I was away finalizing the divorce from Jefferson.

Like butter smearing over a hot biscuit, I melted into his arms as he expertly led us across the dance floor. The entire world faded and it was just Do’Thortn and I swaying to the beautiful tickle of the ivories on the baby grand. Nothing else mattered in the moment. I lost myself in his eyes, his arms pulling me closer. Lifting my chin, he closed the gap and our lips met in the sweetest kiss that nearly took my breath away.

CHAPTER 8

Do’Thortn

My twin hearts pound happily in unison as the lady in my arms pressed her body to mine. Sweet lips parted and I tasted the red wine still on her tongue. Everything about her increased the vibrations in my body, until I nearly wanted to burst forth and claim her right there. But we’re in public and that was against the law. I didn’t care who knew how much I loved and wanted Moxy.

“Would you like to see my apartment?” Moxy’s whispered words send gooseflesh flashing down my neck. My body tensed with anticipation of what’s to come.

“If that’s what you want.” I looked deep into her eyes, judging the response to my reply.

“I want it more than anything.”

Enough time had gone by we were able to leave the restaurant arm in arm, her body pressing into my side. She lived in an upscale apartment building close to the home she had sharedwith Jefferson, but far enough away, he didn’t know, nor did he care.

Once inside, she kicked out of her heels and turned to me as a brilliant smile stretched across her beautiful face.

“Do’Thortn.” My name stayed on her lips as I pressed her to me, my arms wrapping around her back and drawing her into my embrace. It’s where she belonged.

Lifting her chin, our lips met again and this time the blood pumped faster, my body abandoning me with stark need. My cock throbbed endlessly and yet the strong urge to throw her back and take her was overtaken by a stronger urge to explore her luscious human body.

She giggled and stumbled backward, grabbing my hand. “Follow me.”
