Do’Thortn

Moxy’s wishes were always at the forefront of my actions. To make my mate happy meant the world to me. My head shook, sadly. “This isn’t like a wedding ceremony on Earth, Mox. It’s just a legal formality. We stand before the magistrate and that makes it official. It’s not like we plan the ceremony. We’ll be one of many today to do this.”

She turned away, tears brimming. “I miss Kenna. I miss you dreadfully when we’re apart. I never realized how much I’d miss my daughter too. Living separately on Earth was one thing. It was easy enough to walk up the road to see her. I can’t even talk to her from here. I’m not sure I can go months at a time without that. I’m very torn.” She cried, her hands covering her face.

My arms encircled her and drew her to me. “Hey, don’t cry. Listen, we’ll go back to Earth. Maybe once we have this ceremony, I’ll just be the ambassador there instead.” I smiled into her face, moving her long, gorgeous auburn hair from her eyes.

Her hand moved to my cheek. “That’s sweet, but Zorlox already has an ambassador there. Don’t take his job from him.”

“Hey, I’m the official prince.” I puffed my chest.

She giggled. “So is he. This planet should be called Prince Planet.”

“I can find a job there. I’ll make it up. I just want you happy, and if being near your daughter makes you happy, then we’ll make it happen.”

She shook her head. “You are incredible, you know that. You’d honestly give up your life here for me, wouldn’t you?”

“I would. My only job now is to make my soulmate happy. All else is nothing. I’ll even give up my title and job just to move to Earth and be with you there.”

Her arms happily encircled my neck as she smiled. “You know that makes me the happiest. But I won’t ask you to give up everything for me. We’re two different beings from different planets, there’s bound to be some friction in due course.”

“I’m saying there is no friction. I don’t care about my title, or my career. I can find something to do on Earth. There are many opportunities. Let’s just move back there, that way Kenna won’t have to uproot and she can stay where she is and see her mother whenever she wants.”

“Let me talk to her again. I don’t want you giving up your life. A relationship is equally give and take. I have an idea. We can have the binding ceremony here, and go back to Earth and have a small wedding so Kenna can be there too. That way she’ll witness you becoming a part of her family.”

Leaning in, I planted my lips on hers to show her how much I loved her plans. “We can do that. And really, I’m good with leaving Zorlox in favor of living on Earth.”
