“Let me tell Griffin, and then Killer will probably need to go along for our safety.”
“I’ll be here.”
I finish my tea and watch everyone go about their day, then Rowan spots me.
“Hayden told me what happened with your door. Do you have any idea who did it?”
“No fucking clue, bro. Whoever did it must hate me a lot.”
“We will find out who did this.”
I didn’t know how we would find out because I didn’t know anyone that would do this. And ever since the kidnapping, I quit my job, and haven’t been around anyone. It left me confused.
“Okay, you ready?” Astera inquires.
“Where you guys going?” Rowan asks.
Astera beams, folds her hands in front of her, and bounces on her feet. “We are going dress shopping.”
“Take Killer…”
She interrupts him, “I know, Ro. Griffin already told Killer to go with us.”
On the way out, I give Hayden a small wave, and he nods.
“What kind of look are you going for?” We load into the SUV.
She thinks for a moment. “I’m not sure. I don’t want to do white. I want something different, like dark forest green.
When we arrive at the shop, we make our way inside while Killer stays by the door.
A consultant greets us, and Astera gives her the rundown of what she is looking for.
“Give me a second to pull some things, and you ladies can browse as well.”
We begin to sort through the racks of dresses. “This is stunning,” I pull the dress out farther so Astera can see it. It’s a deep red velvet body-hugging dress.
“Yeah. I like that,” Astera pulls it off the rack.
“You should try on a white one to make sure that is not what you want,” I express.
After browsing for a few more minutes, Astera has a lace wedding dress, the red one, and a baby pink one as well.
“Are you ready?” the consultant questions.
Astera follows her into the dressing room while I sit and wait for the fashion show.
Astera pops her head out of the room. “Are you ready to see?”
“I’m ready.”
She comes out in the body-hugging dress and looks into the large mirror. “I definitely don’t think white is the color.”
“It looks good on you, but I think you are right.”
The red one doesn’t pan out either, and the baby pink is not her color. Lastly, she comes out in a long sleeve, black velvet body-hugging dress with a deep V-neck, and a high leg slit with a studded jewel accessory cinching her waist.
“That looks fucking amazing on you. I picture one side of your hair up with a fancy hair comb, leaving the other side with your natural wave.”
