He smiled and then looked to me. “While she’s getting ready, we can have you pee in a cup and give you your results right away.”
“Great,” I said nervously. My stomach was in knots as I followed the nurse, who walked me to a private bathroom down the hall and handed me a cup. It seemed like it was taking me forever to pee even though I knew I had to go.
Finally, it came and I sealed the cup how I was instructed. It was awkward handing my pee cup to a nurse.
“Do you know how to get back to the room?”
“I do.”
“The doctor will let you know shortly.”
Back in the room, I sat next to Olivia and my leg bounced up and down. Olivia placed her hand on my knee. “Whatever the outcome, we can get through it together. Do you want to be a mom?”
“I do. I didn’t realize it until recently when I started working. I’m not sure how Damon would react, though.”
“From what I’ve seen, he seems like a good guy. Of course, you don’t need me to tell you that. You know him better than I do.”
“Thank you.”
She smiled sympathetically at me. The doctor came in and told me two words. “You’re pregnant.”
Chapter Fourteen
KARA
“How are you feeling?” Olivia asked as we arrived back at the condo.
“Confused.”
I was careful not to say too much in front of Matteo. After, all, Damon is his boss; he would have no loyalty to me.
She leaned closer to me. “Do you even want the baby? Have you decided?”
My hand moved over my stomach. “I do.” I smiled. “I could have sworn he was gonna say I wasn’t. You know?”
“I know. If you have questions, I’m here, going through it three months ahead of you. You are still in the super early stages.”
That was when my stomach recoiled and I had to make a beeline toward the bathroom to throw up. Guess I would be stuck with morning sickness.
I was dotting my mouth with a wet hand towel when Olivia made her way in. “You okay?”
“Yeah. I guess it’s morning sickness.”
“That is something I know nothing about. I didn’t get sick at all.”
“Lucky. Look, I don’t want to tell Damon about this just yet. I want to take some time and be alone with this. I’m still in shock and I can’t deal with him knowing. Not yet, anyway.”
“Absolutely. Let me get you some saltine crackers and we can sit on the couch and binge a show.”
I smiled. “Thank you.”
We walked back out to the living room, and Matteo eyed me suspiciously. “I’m fine,” I reassured him and hoped he wouldn’t tell Damon I was sick. Otherwise, Mister Overprotective would be here in a heartbeat. And that was the last thing I needed.

“Can I ask you a personal question?” I asked Olivia as we sat on my bed, continuing our binge watch of a new series.
“Sure.”
