Damon couldn’t stop shaking his head in disbelief. And I couldn’t blame him. This stuff didn’t sound real.
“His men tried to get away with touching me when I was cleaning the floors. Jose made us wear this dress but it was almost see through and it was super short that my panties could be seen when I was bending over. I stuck up for myself as best as I could without getting myself hurt in the process. The other ladies hated me because they thought I was getting special attention. One hated me so much she cut my hair in my sleep. Then I threatened to kill her with the scissors.”
Damon smiled. “I’m proud of you.”
I reared my head back. “You are?”
He beamed with pride. “Fuck yeah. You stuck up for yourself, no matter the consequences.”
“I did what I had to do to survive. That was only half of the shit that happened. Olivia was my only friend and we formed this sisterly bond. You can understand why.”
“I understand now. Thank you for opening up to me.”
“There is something you should know.”
“What is it, Kara?”
“When I say Olivia and I formed that bond. One night, it was more than that. She needed relief and I provided that for her.”
“Oh,” was all Damon managed to say.
“She apologized about it the next morning. But you just have to understand the situation we were in.”
“Did she provide you with relief?” he questioned.
“No. You don’t think any less of me, do you?”
“I appreciate you being honest with me and it only makes me love you more.”
“I just want you to know, I love you, too, Damon. And just to ease your mind, what happened between Olivia and I, it was a one-time thing.”
“So, there’s no chance for a threesome?”
“Damon Alessio!” I playfully punched his arm.
“Jesus. I’m kidding, woman.”.
I stood and hugged Damon.
“I don’t know anything about being a father and I’ll probably be shitty at it. But I can try.”
I smiled wide because this felt like a dream. And it wasn’t mine.
“Let’s go out to the living room and order some food. Gotta keep Momma fed,” he said, placing a hand on my stomach.
Chapter Sixteen
KARA
We ordered take out for dinner, and I was off work tomorrow. Damon took more interest in getting to know Olivia and it was nice seeing him make the effort since she was now part of my life. It took a lot to allow anyone into his world. She didn’t know the specifics but she knew enough. And she didn’t ask too many questions about his business.
Even Matteo was more relaxed as we all gathered around the bar area, eating and talking. Olivia took a particular interest in getting to know Matteo, and it was as if he was hanging on her every word. Who could blame him? She was gorgeous in every way. Her blonde hair hung straight down her back, and her lips were voluptuous. She had a tiny frame and her personality matched. If I were a guy, I would have been attracted to her. Pregnant belly or not. I’m just saying.
Damon scooted closer to me. “I think you and Olivia should move into the house.”
“What?”
“We’ve both established how much we love each other. I just want to take care of you. I can’t stand being apart from you. I love you. And now you’re carrying my baby. Let me love you how you deserve to be loved.”
