I sat on my bed, staring at the dress that hung on the back of my door. I didn’t deserve these beautiful things. Not when I was paying back a debt my father owed. Maybe I just deserved to be in the basement and not up in this gorgeous room that was mine.
After pondering what tonight held, I grabbed the box I was not to open and shook it. No sound at all. I was so curious, I thought to myself, what the hell…But as my hand gripped it, ready to open the top, I remembered Damon’s request to not disobey him. For some reason, I wanted to listen this time.
Aggravated, I sat the box down on my bed and grabbed my book and continued to read until Susie stepped into my room, “The party starts in two and a half hours. You should think about getting ready.”
“Okay.” I hopped off the bed and hurried to get in the shower. A part of me wanted to impress Damon. I wanted him to be proud of me and know that I could be well-behaved.
After showering, and drying off, I dried my hair and straightened it with the straightener. Peeking at the dress, I grabbed the thinnest thong I could find in my drawer. Wrangling with the delicate chain, I figured out how to hook it around my waist and thighs. Damn, I felt sexy wearing this. Sitting at my vanity, I did the smoky eyes look and then swiped some plum lipstick on. Once satisfied with my look, I took a deep breath before pulling on the dress. It was a halter dress with a slit that almost reached my waist. I’d never worn anything as beautiful before. Not even to prom. Next, I picked out a pair of silver lace up heels.
The nerves continued as the last thing I did was pick up the unopened box, struggling with the decision to open it or not. Looking in the floor length mirror, the thigh chain looked sexy with the slit of the dress. But really looking at my reflection, I didn’t recognize myself. Who was that girl looking back at me?
“You look beautiful,” I heard from the door, and my eyes connected with Damon’s dark gaze.
I looked down at myself. “This is all too much. I don’t feel worthy of it.”
“Get used to it, Dove. Now give me the box.” I handed it to him and he smiled. Damon had such a beautiful smile. He paused to look at me. “No temptation to open it?”
Meeting his gaze, I responded by saying, “You did this to aggravate me. Knowing I would be curious but yet…” My voice trailed off.
“Go on,” Damon encouraged.
“I didn’t want to upset you before your party tonight.”
He laughed aloud, shaking his head. “You are learning Dove. Good girl. Now turn around,” he commanded. I turned to face the mirror and watched his reflection as he opened the box and removed a beautiful black satin and white lace collar. It also had a small ring where you could easily add a chain to it. As he put it around my neck and locked it, I ran my fingers over the material. I hated to admit the collar was beautiful. I had never seen anything like it.
He kissed my neck and I shuddered with feelings I had never known. He touched my wicked inner self. I looked at him in the mirror. “It’s beautiful.”
“Okay, now give me your wrist,” his dark gaze ordered and his voice commanded.
I turned back to face him. Lifting my wrist, he took a long, silky, blue rectangular box out of his suit jacket and opened it. The most gorgeous diamond bracelet twinkled in the light. He linked the delicate diamond bracelet around my wrist and then kissed my hand. “Now you look like perfection.”
“Thank you, Master.” I offered a small smile. But was so grateful.
“Shall we?” He held his arm out for me to link mine through it.
I was still smiling as we started to descend down the stairs.
Looking at everyone gathered at the bottom of the stairs, I got nervous. “Did I take too long to get ready?” I asked Damon, fearing I went over the time allotted.
“No. This is exactly how I wanted to present you to everyone; on my arm and looking sexy as hell. I’m not sure how I will control myself, Dove.”
I smiled wide.
We stepped off the last step and Damon spoke to the crowd. “Everyone, this is Kara.” He left my last name off.
“It’s nice to meet you.”
Men shook my hand, and their significant others offered me a kiss on the cheek, welcoming me to the group.
I greeted them all with a smile and only spoke when spoken to. Just as Damon had instructed. We sat at the dinner table and multiple people looked to Damon and complimented how beautiful I was. “Thank you,” Damon responded.
Chapter Six
KARA
Damon looked powerful sitting at the head of the table with me on his left. Conversation was light and not really business like. I listened to everyone and noticed the women were also pretty quiet while the men talked. We finished dinner, and Damon suggested we move to the large living room for drinks. Weaving my arm through his, I felt like I was his arm candy.
“Master, will you excuse me so I can use the restroom?” My drink was already running through me.
