I died last night. My heart was as mixed up as I was. I was physically here but I wasn’t. I was in survival mode and I would remain that way until I could go home. For now, I’d give Damon what he wanted. My submission. At least I had to make him believe he controlled and owned me. I finally realized it was the only way for me to survive. Part of me wished I would have just let him kill my father. But I’m not cold blooded.
Looking in the closet that was only mine if I behaved, I picked out a pair of black leggings and an off-the-shoulder top. Then I piled my hair up in a messy knot. I wasn’t in the mood to be dressed up. I was…shoot. I wasn’t sure who or what I was becoming.
I met Damon in the dining room. “Feel better?”
I only offered him a brief glance. “Yes.” I reached for a waffle and drowned it with syrup. I ate a few bites before I asked, “May I speak?” Damon allowed it. “I just have a question. How long have you been preparing for me?”
Damon took his time with his answer. “Probably about a month, maybe a month and a half.”
“You knew you would take me?”
“Yes, as long as no one else got to you first.”
“So those looks you were giving me, it was just a ploy to get me to like you.”
He smirked. “Yes and no. And you ask a lot of questions, Dove.”
I shut my mouth for the remainder of breakfast. My heart was beating so fast, I had no idea what to do with these feelings.
“It’ll get better,” he assured me.
“You keep saying that like I’m going to change my mind.” My tone was sarcastic.
“You will, Dove. There is no question about it. You will.”
Damon was so absolutely sure about this and it was becoming clear that I had no choice in the matter.
“I have one thing to say.”
“Say it, Dove.”
“I get lonely when you aren’t around. I’d like for us to get more acquainted with each other. I mean if I’m not going anywhere.”
“You’re right. And we will be getting more acquainted soon, Dove. Soon. I promise. And if you are a really good girl, I have another surprise for you.”
I smiled. “Really?”
“Yes. I’ll show you soon enough.”
Most everyone I knew hated surprises. But I loved surprises and couldn’t wait to see what Damon had to show me.
“Now, I must leave. I have business to attend to. You good?”
I nodded. “I’m fine.”
Standing, he bent down to kiss the top of my head. I didn’t know why, but I liked when he did that. There was something special about it, too. Personal, even. Yes, it felt personal. And in a weird way, it made me feel loved.
“Have a good day,” I told him with a smile.
“I won’t be long. Promise.”
When he left, I got up from the table and walked around the house. I roamed everywhere I was allowed. And against my better judgement, I even tried opening doors to rooms only finding the doors to be locked. I thought that was strange. What was Damon hiding? Or better yet, was he hiding it from me in particular?
Down the hall, I passed the room Damon and I shared. I knew that wasn’t his nightly bedroom. That room was meant for play. I turned the knob to another room, and it allowed me access. Knowing full well I shouldn’t be in here, not if the door was closed. But my curiosity was peaked as I walked inside.
The bedroom was contemporary in style. There was an oil painting of the cityscape hanging above the bed. The bed sat low to the ground and had dark gray coverings. There was a shaggy black and white rug at the foot of the bed. There was also a black leather scoop chair with a side table. It was hard to picture Damon in here. The thing that stood out was the fancy chandelier that hung in the center of the room. The windows were floor-to-ceiling and also covered in dark drapes.
A thought came to mind. Stepping out of the room, I closed the door behind me. I entered my own bedroom, picked out some frilly black lingerie, and laid it out on my bed. I was already clean from my bath. I took my hair out of my messy bun and decided to only put half my hair up, curling it, letting the rest hang down. I put on the sexy lingerie, the black bra, matching see-through panties, and thigh highs. Next, I put on black stilettos. Obviously, I couldn’t walk around the house like this, so I grabbed a silk robe and tied it tightly around my body.
