“What a load of pipsqueak.” Francine scoffed and opened another small bottle of champagne. “It all sounds romantic though, so make sure you remind her.”
“I will.” Alex laughed.
Alex pushed on her sunglasses, grabbed her bag, and after speaking with the air stewards who had looked after her, she followed Francine off the plane. They were given a ride to passport control and then baggage and then with everything loaded up onto a trolley, they had to walk through the area where hopefully Mike would be waiting for them. Francine took charge of the trolley, allowing Alex the opportunity to have both hands free to cover her face if there were too many photographers and flashbulbs.
As the doors slid open, she looked up and found a familiar face. Not Mike, but Morgan. Her face broke out into a huge smile when she saw the sign Morgan held in the air, everyone around them all watching and waiting for Alex to react.
She took off running. Reaching Morgan, she threw her arms around her neck and kissed her just as a huge cheer went up as those around them realised what was happening, and the small group of photographers started to snap away.
“Yes?” she asked.
Morgan nodded. “Yes, what was you expecting?”
Alex shrugged and held her face in her hands. “I missed you. I wasn’t sure if you’d even seen it, or what you thought about it.”
“Have to admit, was a little shocked, but Mrs Dodd's rectal collapse soon brought me back down to earth.” Morgan grinned. “So, we gonna celebrate? Because I have the next seventy-two hours off, and I thought we could just stay naked.”
“That’s a plan I think I can definitely stick to.”
“Excellent, because I have some euphoria of my own that’s been building.”
Alex reached for her hand. “I want to do so many obscene things to you later.”
“I wasn’t expecting anything less. You’ve got four lonely nights to make up for.”
“I’ll be at the car,” Francine said, pushing the luggage past them. “Congratulations.” She grinned.
Alex waved to the few people still looking at them. Leaning in and covering her mouth from any potential lip readers, she said, “Can you even begin to imagine how much euphoria I have building since winning…with nobody to help take care of that?”
“No pay rise for Francine then,” Morgan teased. “Don’t worry, I’m fully loaded on calories. I’m going to let you play me like a symphony and open a door to eternity.”
“I love you,” Alex said simply.
“I should hope so. I love everything about you and being with you, and I’m going to love being your wife.” She squeezed Alex’s hand. “Knight, however, said he expects to be asked.”
Alex laughed at that. “I bet he does.”
“Let’s go home.”
