Killian growls and pulls out of me, quickly tucking himself back into his pants. Setting me gently on the ground, he turns around covering my body with his. “What the fuck are you doing in here?”

“Wellsomeonedecided to screw with the door open. While my girlfriend is being held captive, if you remember.” Arriana glares daggers back at Killian.

Before he’s able to respond, I peek around him and ask, “Wait, what?” My heart hammers in my chest at the thought of Fallon being in trouble. The sound of her crying out plays in my head. “Oh my god.” I gasp, covering my mouth with my hands.

Turning her glare my direction, Arriana snaps, “Yeah. So if you’re finished.” Spinning around, she storms out of the room.

I’m momentarily frozen in place before I smack Killian’s back. “What the fuck Killian? You knew she was in trouble and you needed to get lucky? Seriously?”

He doesn’t turn around, stepping away from me and holding out his hand for mine. “Let’s go.”

“Um, okay.” I look down at my tattered clothing before adding. “I need to change first though.”

Glancing over his shoulder, Killian runs his gaze over my torn clothes. Without a word, he yanks off his shirt and pulls it over my head, the material falling just past my ass. “There.” Grabbing my hand, he yanks me out of the room and down the hall.

We’re met with Arriana pacing angrily in the living room as the man tries to calm her down. “We’ll get her back, Ree.” He promises, holding his hands out helplessly. She doesn’t respond, continuing her hurried steps.

Killian pulls us to a stop, looking toward the man. “Andrew, I need you to stay here to protect Avamarie.”

“What?” I shout, yanking my hand from his. “No way. I’m going.”

Killian ignores me, turning toward Arriana. “We need to go.” He commands, striding toward the elevator.

“Wait!” I cry, jogging after him. He stops but doesn’t look at me. Reaching up, I grab his arm as I plead, “Killian, please, she’s my friend. I need to be there.”

Killian looks at me out of the corner of his eye before averting his gaze again. “You’re not coming.” He states, shaking out of my grip.

I watch in stunned silence as he and Arriana climb into the elevator. I don’t move for what could have been seconds or hours, frozen to the spot as I stare at the closed doors.

Andrew clears his throat behind me.

Turning slowly, I look up at him.

Rubbing the back of his neck, he gestures to the tv. “You like movies?”

Killian

I slam the trunk closed, shrugging on my spare shirt as I round the vehicle. Climbing behind the wheel, I let out a heavy breath.

“So you’re really doing this, huh?” Arriana asks from the seat beside me.

Glaring at the road ahead of us, I start the engine. “I’m not going to talk about it.” I mutter, pulling into the street.

Shifting to face me, she presses, “I just can’t believe-”

“I said I’m not talking about it.” I snap, flooring the gas pedal.

Arriana falls quiet and, as the miles pass us by, my chest tightens. Thoughts of Avamarie run through my mind as we grow closer to our destination.

I can do this. For her.

Chapter 40

Avamarie

I stare at Andrew snoring beside me. Why Killian asked him to watch over me when the man couldn’t even make it through one quarter of the movie we put on is beyond me.
