I wasn’t sure why he was saying all this as he stroked me, but he had tears falling down my cheeks. I could feel his love for me through his words and how his dick caressed my insides. As my eyes fluttered shut, he said, “Naw, Kinisha. Look at me.”
Struggling to reopen my eyes, I did as he requested. I could feel another orgasm building, threatening to detonate and take me out. He’d better get his nut before I completely tapped out. “You everything I need, baby. I knew it before I even experienced your conversation, before I saw your pettiness, before I even stroked this juicy-ass pussy. You’re the woman I wanna do life with, beautiful. I can only hope that I’m the man you wanna spend your forever with . . . that I’m enough for you . . . that I satisfy you.”
“Oliver,” I said, succumbing to the cries in my throat. “You are so much more, baby. So much more than what I felt I deserved. You thought I was too good for you? No. It’s you who are too good for me,” I said through my cries.
He gently wiped away my tears with his thumb, then dug into the couch cushions, allowing his dick to rest inside me. Pulling out a small box, he said, “I told your parents I wanted to be a permanent fixture in your life. I know it’s soon, but that’s how sure I am about us. You it for me.”
He began stroking me again, painfully slow while staring into my eyes. When he opened that box, it felt like I was hyperventilating. I was already crying uncontrollably. That diamond was shining so brightly I could barely stare at it. The recessed lighting was hitting it just right. Oliver pulled it from the box and stroked me a few times. He closed his eyes and moaned, then said, “I wanna be permanent, Kinisha. Tell me you’ll marry me, baby. I need you to be Mrs. Andrews ASAP.”
I wrapped one arm around him and held my other hand to his face. “Yes, I want to marry you. No one else is more deserving of my love, devotion, loyalty, and affection. Yes, Oliver.”
He slid the ring on my finger, then slid his hands beneath me and gripped my ass, giving me all he had. I held him tightly to me as he wore me out like he was a demolition team. He tore down walls and made his way through the rubble. Our love manifested into this. Despite the issues with Jarod, this easily had to be the best time of my life simply because Oliver was a part of it.
As he reached his orgasm, I expressed another one. My body was so drained. I’d lost count of how many times I’d exploded on Oliver tonight, but I was thoroughly satisfied. He rested his forehead on mine and closed his eyes.
“Thank you, Lord, for giving me something so precious. . . someone so valuable. I promise to cherish the gift you gave me and protect her and our baby with my life.”
Submission was hard for me, but not with a man like Oliver. I thought about it constantly, knowing that this was what God intended: for the man he created to be so loving that his wife wouldn’t have an issue with submission. I’d fallen for the right man and was so grateful that I tripped and fell into him that day. However, I was certain that God had orchestrated even that.
Chapter 24
Oliver
We’d just gotten to the lawyer’s office. I was beyond ready for this shit to be over. Kinisha was now my fiancée, and I just wanted her to bask in that without worrying about this nigga. He was irritating and annoying, like a fly or gnat flying around your food while you were trying to eat. He wasn’t a threat, but he was definitely a nuisance.
After our lovemaking session, we couldn’t do anything but sleep. Although I was excited about our future, I was exhausted. I knew the same was true for her. She was already relaxed from the long day at the spa. I’d had her favorite Chinese dish delivered to the spa. She loved egg rolls and beef and broccoli. By the time I’d gotten to her, she was beyond relaxed.
As I searched for a parking spot, I glanced over at Kinisha. She was staring out the window, and I could tell she was nervous. We’d gone to her parents’ house before coming here, and they prayed for her. Kiana and Lazarus met us there as well. Of course, the prayer didn’t begin until her mom and Kiana gushed over her ring again. We’d gone there the day after I proposed to make the announcement and for Kinisha to show them the ring. Today, it was like they hadn’t seen it before by the excitement on their faces.
However, last night, I’d met with the fellas, and we’d already discussed an alternate plan if this didn’t go well. We had a private investigator on speed dial at Watchful Eyes here in Beaumont who would find plenty of dirt on Jarod. A nigga like him had to have shit he was hiding that they would dig out. We wanted to try legal means to handle him, but I wasn’t beneath doing something illegal to assure my babies would be good.
When I parked, Kinisha turned to me. “I didn’t tell you he came to my apartment a week ago before you arrived to pick me up.”
I frowned hard. “What?”
“I told Sidney because I recorded him threatening me, but I didn’t tell you because I didn’t want you to go looking for him. I opened the door for him, thinking it was you. When I saw it was him, I tried to close the door on him, but he barged his way in. He pretty much threatened to take my baby from me if I didn’t give him primary custody. He said he would drag me through the mud and brought up me being on probation.”
I lowered my head for a moment, trying to subdue my irritation. She’d seen my angry side in the doctor’s office. I had to see things from her perspective before responding. I had to study who she was and why she reacted the way she did. She was a critical thinker and incredibly selfless. She didn’t do that with malicious intent. She just didn’t want me to get in trouble.
I lifted my eyes to hers and slowly nodded. “I understand why you didn’t tell me. However, for future reference, I won’t jeopardize my freedom or livelihood if it can be helped. You can trust me to put your well-being and that of our baby at the forefront. Just like I asked you to do with that situation with Mya, I will do the same. I can’t expect something from you that I’m unwilling to do. I got’chu always, baby.”
I grabbed her hand and kissed it as she smiled softly. “Thank you, Oliver. I didn’t want Sidney to say something about it that would stun you. I’m sorry for not telling you.”
“You don’t have to apologize. Let’s go and get this over with.”
This was to be an arbitration of sorts to try to reach some agreement and avoid going to court. I could only pray that Sidney had enough shit up her sleeve to where Jarod would back the fuck off. I got out of the car and walked around to help Kinisha out. Once I listened for the doors to lock automatically, we headed inside to the elevator.
Once inside, Kinisha held my hand between her cold, trembling ones. “Everything will be fine, baby. I need you to exercise that faith and claim that too.”
She nodded. “You’re right. Everything will be fine.”
As we exited the elevator, Sidney and another lady exited the elevator next to us. “Hey, y’all. I had another meeting on the second floor. I’m so ready to get this over with,” she said as she rolled her eyes.
Kinisha let out a nervous giggle as we proceeded down the hallway to the attorney’s suite. Sidney turned to me and said, “I’m sorry, Oliver. This is Amanda Spears, the lead on Kinisha’s case.”
I nodded and shook her hand as I smiled.
“Nice to meet you, Mr. Oliver.”
