I glance up to see her eyes widen as she stares at the LEGO box in my hand. “Fuck, this isn’t how I want to do this.” But I go with the flow of things and drop to my knees in front of her. “I love you with all my heart. From your LEGO builds, cross stitching with my Nana, and your pure soul. You have shown me that I can love and be loved so purely it’s real. You have been my rock over the last year. Without you, I wouldn’t be the man I am today.”
She starts to cry before I can get the words out. “Winter Dallow, I told you one day I would make you Winter Stone. Will you make me the happiest man alive and marry me?”
She nods, tears streaming down her face. “Yes! Yes!” I stand and scoop her into my arms. I slide the LEGO ring on her finger. “This isn’t your real ring. I left the other one at home because there was no way it was getting through customs.”
I whip out my phone to show her the blue sapphire stone, with teardrop shapes on both sides of the emerald and diamonds going around the sides of the ring. “Heidi helped me design it.”
“Declan, I love the LEGO ring, too.”
“You can keep them both, beautiful. I had matching wedding rings made, too, all designed by Heidi.”
“Can I ring Autumn and Liliana?” she squeals.
I laugh because she’s dialling before I’ve even had the chance to answer her.
Through video chat, we tell them all we are engaged. She ends the call and squeals as she thrusts herself into my arms.
“How did you want to propose?” she asks.
I pull out two tickets from my back pocket and hand them over to her. “I was going to take you into LEGO Land and propose in there. But you caught me when you walked out of the bathroom.”
She laughs. “Don’t have the box in your hand next time.” She’s inspecting the box. “Whoa! It’s made of LEGO.”
“Would you want anything different?” I ask.
“You built this?” she asks. I nod. “It’s so cute. I have to find a place for it amongst the LEGO in that special room you gave me.”
“Actually, I want it in our bedroom. I have a shelf for it already.”
“You are the most romantic man in the world.” Winter’s phone rings, and she looks at it. “It’s Liliana calling me back.” Winter answers the call as I prepare to get ready for our day at LEGO Land. I have no doubt we are filling what remaining space in our luggage with LEGO. Watching Winter talking to Liliana, I decide I’ll give Winter no more than six months to plan our wedding. We will be married in the summer. I can’t wait longer than that to make her my wife.
I found my Luna, and I’ll never give her up.
We are meant to drive each other wild.
Forever.
