“If you’re about to say you don’t date because of your job, I call bullshit. I will wear you down one of these days, Winter. Just you watch, you’ll be beneath me in bed because you need to be. Not want, butneed.”
She rolls her eyes, which I see through the light of the moon. “Keep dreaming, champ. If you want this in your bed, you gotta work for it.”
“I like a challenge, beautiful. Good night. Sweet dreams. I know mine will be of you.”
I lean in to kiss her cheek, but she moves her head, and our lips collide. It’s explosive, and a powerful wave washes over me. I growl as I slide my hand around her neck and my other below her chin, opening her mouth to dip my tongue inside. Her sweet little whimper of pleasure is music to my ears as she grips my shirt, trying to pull me closer.
The powerful rush has my cock throbbing as she wrestles with her emotions. Her brain says one thing, but her lips are begging for more. At this moment, as the electric current runs between us, I know she is destined to be mine. My mate and Luna.
Just as quickly as I think this, Winter pushes me away. “I’m sorry, I can’t do this. You need to go.”
“Go? I think you mean me to stay,” I say.
She looks at me, breathing heavily. “That kiss was…spectacular, but we can’t do this. I’m your sister’s midwife.”
I arch an eyebrow. “So? You’re not my midwife, and you clearly want me. I don’t know what game you’re playing, Winter, but as I said before, you will be beneath me in bed and soon because youneedto be.”
“Just go, please.” She breathes heavily again, and I reluctantly get out of the car.
I glance over my shoulder as I head up my front steps, and I’m damn sure she’s touching her lips. I’ve affected her just as much as she has on me.
I will see you soon, Winter, and you’ll give in to my touch.

WINTER
Arriving at the winery for Lorraine’s hen night, my mind isn’t on the beauty of the place, but the sexy man I haven’t been able to stop thinking about. Declan. Part of me is hoping he’ll be here and that I’ll get to see him again. Another is hesitant because everything I feel around him is intense and scary. I swear I felt an electric current between us as tingles covered my entire being when we kissed the other night. It was magical.
Declan is certainly a walking temptation. One night with him could be fun, if only I’m willing to allow it to happen. I know I’m being silly and should just give in, giving us what we crave: sex. Then, maybe he’ll get out of my head and dreams.
He’s made it clear he wants to sleep with me, not that I know why. I’m nothing special compared to some of the waitresses and bar staff he has.
“It’s so pretty here,” my colleague Mary says as the limo pulls up to park.
“It’s gorgeous, and you feel like you’re away from the city. It’s my favourite winery,” I reply.
“Really? Can you recommend a good one?” Lorraine asks.
I laugh. “All of them.”
We all clamber out of the limo that Lorraine hired, and she tells the driver that she’ll text when she’s ready to have us all picked up. We make our way inside, and the first person I lay eyes on is none other than Declan. He smiles when he sees me, a smile that dances on his lips and reaches his eyes. It makes my knees weak, my heart hammer hard within my chest, and my body build with desire.
“Ladies, you must be the bridal party coming for the tasting today. My name is Declan, and I’m the manager of the winery. I’ll be personally serving you all today. Let me show you to your table,” Declan says.
So he isn’t just an employee, but the manager.
Declan proceeds to shake each of our hands, leaving me until last. The familiar tingles rush through my body. I just want to let go and allow him to have his way with me. He lets me go and escorts us to our table. We all take a seat, and I pick up a menu. I already know what I want to drink, but to eat, I’m unsure.
“Ladies, I’ll leave you to look over the menu and will return momentarily,” Declan says. He walks away towards the main cellar door, and immediately I’m pounced on by the girls.
“What wasthat?” Lorraine asks.
“What was what?” I reply, trying to keep my tone casual.
“That back there with him? There was a definite spark that rippled between you two. I swear I felt it,” Lorraine says. “Do you know him?”
“We’ve met once or twice or maybe more times as I delivered his sister’s baby, but I didn’t know he was the manager here,” I reply, trying to keep the fact we kissed out of the conversation.
