“I did,” I answer. “And you’ll do good to think twice before anything else comes out of your fucking mouth regardingthat girl.”

Heimdall is silent, weighing his words.

Finally, he says, “I hope she’s worth it.”

“She is. She’s already proved to be useful.”

“How so?”

“She overheard Elsa on the phone saying something about changing a plan since I was back early.”

His eyebrow lifts. “Does Anna know what you suspect?”

“No, and I plan to keep it that way.”

Because at the end of the day, she’s still Elsa’s granddaughter and still a pawn in this game.

“What are you thinking?”

I say, “I’m thinking I need to get Elsa and my dear wife out of town for a few weeks so I can do some digging.”

He grins. “This ought to be fun.”

“Indeed.”

“What about the girl?”

I should send her away, too, but, as I’ve said before, I’m selfish.

“She stays with me.”

He stares at me before nodding. “I trust you, Odin.”

“Thank you.”

I cross my office, opening my closet, where I find a spare shirt for Anna. A thought crosses my mind.

“Hans is back from his travels.”

“I heard.”

“He’ll be staying with you.”

Because I want my house empty except for me and Anna.

He groans. “You owe me.”

“Of course. Now, get out of here before Anna sees you.”

Heimdall chuckles, mock saluting me. I’m smiling as I leave the office and go back to the bathroom to Anna. I can’t believe I didn’t think of this sooner. Getting Elsa and Selma out of the way will allow me to work without raising suspicion. Keeping Anna at my side will allow me to fuck her until this obsession has passed. It’s a win-win.

I hand her the shirt.

“Hurry and change. There’s something I need to take care of at home.”
