“I would have agreed to the marriage, I think.”

I stiffen. “Really?”

He nods. “As much as I didn’t want to go through with it at first, I wouldn’t have been able to deny how much you bewitched me. How intrigued I was. How I would’ve wanted to help you with your situation.”

I smile against his lips. “But I had to go and ruin it all by staring at your scars,” I whisper. “I still can’t believe you thought I was repulsed by you. I mean, just look at you.”

Now he’s the one smiling. “What wouldyouhave thought about me?”

I shrug. “The same as I always did. Buttoned-up and grouchy, but with something else underneath the surface. Even if things didn’t end up the way they did, I still would’ve kept picking away at the ice until I got inside, don’t worry,” I add, placing a hand on his bare chest. Suddenly, a memory comes back to me. “Did I ever tell you about the time I watched you wank in the shower before we got together?”

He makes a half-choking, half-surprised sound. “What?!”

I giggle. “Yep. I’d left my vibrator out, and when I went to hide it, you were wanking in the shower.”

His eyes are sparkling with intrigue. “And? Did my wife enjoy the show?”

I grin. “I did. Very much so.”

“Let’s go,” he says suddenly, swimming away.

“W–what? Why?”

He stands up and quickly pulls on his pants and trousers, giving me a pointed look.

Oh.

Staring down at me with darkened pupils, he cocks his head slightly as he holds his shirt open for me.

“Because I need to be inside of you.”

I laugh as he helps me out of the fountain, my body flooding with warmth and arousal. Something about the way he can’t ever seem to keep his hands to himself…

I peel my wet tank top, shorts, and knickers off as he wraps his white shirt around me. Buttoning it up, he collects the rest of my clothes and hands me my sandals and purse.

We’re half-walking, half-jogging toward the black SUV that’s parked nearby, Miles holding onto my hand and tugging me behind him.

“Did Chase slip you Viagra again?” I tease as he pulls my door open.

He gives me a withering glare as he helps me inside. “Very funny. I thought we agreed we wouldn’t talk about that night?”

I’m still laughing when he comes around to his side, thinking about the night a couple months ago when Chase slipped both Miles and Liam Viagra unknowingly.

As he climbs in, he knocks on the window separating his driver from us. It slides down slowly.

“Please take us back to our apartment. Oh, and if I were you, I’d keep the partition up for the journey.”

My mouth drops open as the driver chuckles, complying with Miles’s request. “Are you out of your mind?” I hiss once we have privacy.

Miles chuckles, leaning over and placing a kiss on my neck. “I believeyouwere the one who jumped my bones in that taxi, Mrs. Ravage,” he murmurs. “I’m just paying it forward.”

“Blegh, you smell like fountain water,” I whine, pushing him away.

“Didn’t stop me from kissing you back that night. Grin and bear it, wife.”

The scent of the water continues to assault my nostrils, and I push him away harder. “No, really. All I can smell is swamp water and your wet, wool pants.”

He laughs as he tries to kiss me again, and the car lurches forward in such a way that it feels like I left my stomach behind. Nausea roils through me, and I place a hand over my mouth.
