“There’s nothing to regret, Olivia,” he reassured me, gently cupping my cheeks. “I’ve always wanted you.” He kissed me tenderly. “And I like you.”

“You do?” I questioned, unable to contain my wide grin.

“I have for quite some time now. I thought you’d never think of me in that way and I didn’t want to make you uncomfortable,” he confessed, his eyes emanating a profound warmth.

“Me too!” I exclaimed, relieved to discover we shared the same feelings. “I’ve liked you for a long time too. I was just so afraid it would weird you out.”

Ethan laughed, throwing his head back. “Looks like we had nothing to worry about.”

“Yes.” I nodded. Suddenly, thoughts of James invaded my mind. “Except James. I’m really not sure how he’d react to this.”

Ethan let out a heavy sigh and lightly pushed me forward. “What do you think? And what do you want, Olivia?”

“I genuinely like you enough to want to go out with you and see where this leads,” I answered truthfully. I yearned for this connection and didn’t want to deny myself this newfound happiness, but I also felt apprehensive. “I’m just not sure James would accept it. I mean, you’re his best friend, and there’s an age gap between us.”

“I want the same thing as you, Olivia, and I share the same concerns,” he replied, his hand soothingly running down my spine. “But I want to be with you more than I fear facing James.”

“Same here.” I chuckled. I loved my brother, but my desire to be with Ethan was equally strong. “Maybe we can continue seeing each other, and once we’re sure about what we want, we can then tell James.”

“Are you sure that’s what you want?” Ethan asked, his eyes moving from my eyes to my lips.

I moistened my lips. “I’m very sure.”

“I want to do this too.” He drew me closer by the nape of my neck, and captured my lips in a passionate kiss until our intimate moment was interrupted by the blaring sound of his alarm. “Shut the fuck up!”

Ethan hurled the alarm against the wall before turning his attention back to me, pulling me over his throbbing cock.

“Are you sure about that alarm?” I questioned, referring to its importance. “Don’t you have something important?—”

“It can wait,” he cut me off, crashing his lips against mine as he entered me in one swift motion.

A moan escaped my lips, realizing at that moment that everything else could wait, but this couldn’t.

“Mr. Beckett.”

I glanced up from my work to see Gloria placing a file on my desk. Without asking, I knew it contained the signed contract for the new Beckett Technologies branch in Florida.

“Thank you, Gloria,” I acknowledged, picking the file up.

“Mr. Evans wanted to know if you could squeeze in a quick meeting this evening,” Gloria stated in a rushed tone.

“No, I can’t. I already have a prior commitment,” I relied absentmindedly.

“But, sir, your schedule is free from 6:30 pm,” Gloria insisted, sounding unsure.

I looked up at her, raising an eyebrow. “I said I have a prior commitment, Gloria. It’s a very important one that I cannot miss.”

“Okay, sir,” She said lowering her head slightly before scurrying out of my office.

Taking my time, I read through the contract, but my mind had already drifted elsewhere. It was consumed by thoughts of Olivia, and I couldn’t help but envision how our meeting would unfold today.

Olivia and I have been dating for a few months, and they have been the most wonderful months of my life. After Jessica, I had sworn off relationships and convinced myself that love was not meant for me. However, Olivia shattered those beliefs and restored my faith in love. I saw a future with her, and I desired it with all my heart.

I knew this because she was the only person I would rearrange my schedule for. She brought a touch of flexibility into my very rigid life. She was the only woman I looked forward to seeing every day, aside from my mother.
