"Desperately."
Desperately. The word whispers within me, making all of me desperate for him right now.
"I'm going to the bathroom," I say, my voice low. "You should meet me there in five minutes."
His eyebrows shoot up. "I'll be there in three."
I grin and back away from him, making sure to lick my lips before I turn away from him.
"Char, I'll be right back," I tell her.
"I bet. You don't whisper as quietly as you think you do. You don't even have to wait three minutes, Lawson."
I should feel some type of shame, that Charlotte, and probably the nurse, heard me, but I shrug and look at Law.
"You're not moving fast enough."
And then he is, and I'm running down the hallway, more than ready for the moment I get caught.
Chapter 16
Four Months Later
"You're sure you liked it?" Lexa asks again.
"I loved it," Charlotte reassures her. "This party was every single thing I wanted and more. You did amazing."
"You don't have to do any of that," Law tells me. "I have a cleaning service coming in the morning to pick up everything."
I put down the garbage bag I was filling. "You don't have to tell me twice."
"Please let me know if anyone wants to take anything home," Jackson says. "We have plenty of leftovers."
"I will take all of it!" Charlotte exclaims.
"There's a lot." Jackson chuckles.
"Good thing I eat a lot, then."
"Who's up for a little game?" Jeremiah asks. "Now that it's just us."
"I know you well enough to ask what the game is first," Ezekiel states, arching a brow at his brother.
In the months since Charlotte's surgery, and the weeks since I moved into Law's house, we've all become really close. Law's brother and friends are funny as hell and give it to Charlotte and Lexa just as good as they get. I think it's flirting, but Charlotte and Lexa just keep repeating the same old line about not having time for relationships, or sex, right now. Shame.
"Just a good old-fashioned game of truth or dare," Jeremiah says. "But men vs. women. What one of us guys does, we all have to do. Same for the ladies."
We all agree and end up in the TV room. Law pulls over the ottoman for a glass bowl Jeremiah puts down on it.
"Everybody write down one truth you'd want to know, and a dare on the other side," Jeremiah explains. "Whatever one you pick out, you have to do, or answer. No re-dos."
I take the piece of paper and pen that's offered and write on both sides, fold it and put it in the bowl.
"Alright, ladies first," Ezekiel says.
"Normally that would be polite." Lexa narrows her eyes at him. "But now, it feels like a set-up. So, I think I speak for all of us when I say the ladies will ever so graciously let you guys go first."
"Fine." Ezekiel shrugs. "Don't say I didn't offer. What are we going with?"
