“Don’t make this about Robert. You’re mad at yourself,” Kristen stated. Harsh, but true. “Will, you know we love you, but you need to take a deep breath and relax for a second for us, okay?”
He nodded.
Angie squeezed his shoulder in comfort. “Want to know why he didn’t react?”
Will quirked a brow. “You know?”
“I can surmise,” Angie said.
“Okay.”
“The whole Dom sub thing is new to you.” Angie placed her finger on his lips when he went to correct her. “It is, Will. You’re a baby in the grand scheme of things.”
Kristen added. “A newborn even.”
Angie nodded. "Kristen is right. It's not unheard of for a sub to mumble or say things they don't necessarily mean. Especially if the Dom put the sub into subspace." She tilted her head. "Were you in subspace?"
What the hell did he know about subspace? As they pointed out he was an infant. “How the hell would I know?”
“Did you feel high?” Kristen asked.
“I felt high before I came the first time,” he admitted. “A little drunk on stimulation and stumbly.”
Kristen slid her gaze to Angie before looking back at him then whispered "Subspace."
Angie spoke first. “You were euphoric, your body was full of chemicals. Robert isn’t dumb. He’s an experienced Dom and chances are, he didn’t say anything because he didn’t need to. He knew you were in subspace and what you said didn’t necessarily mean youlovedhim. He most likely took it as you were in love with what he was able to do to your body and mind.”
"As for you not hearing from him since this morning." Kristen handed Will his phone back. "You need to give the guy a break. Not only is he an FBI Agent, but he is also part-owner of the club. Maybe he's busy. Not to mention the fact he's also well aware of your past experiences and doesn't want to push you."
“Or maybe he’s giving you time. Letting you deal with everything you did last night. Need I remind you, you’re theonewho left early, like a scared little kid,” Angie added.
Yet another grinding truth. He loved those girls. They never pulled their punches with him. Calling him on his shit and laying it out there for him to see it through their eyes and not his fucked up ones put a perspective on the situation he assumed he already knew.
“Not everyone is like Tristan, out to fuck you over and do you dirty. There are good people out there, who are looking for the same things you are,” Kristen said.
“It’s more than that though, isn’t it, Will?” The way Angie stared at him or as if she saw through him, always caught him off guard. “You already have feelings for him, don’t you?”
He swallowed the lump in his throat. At some point during the day, he realized he did have feelings for Robert. They were scary and new. His heart raced and his stomach tightened. The anxiety of being left again churned in his gut. He couldn’t go through losing another partner due to some reason he couldn’t fix.
“Will?” Angie pushed.
“Shit,” he mumbled, shoving his drink away from him. Already the warmth of the alcohol was loosening his lips. “I don’t think I can blame it all on being in subspace.”
Kristen squealed in delight, clapping her hands. “You’re in love with him?”
He frowned, looking at both women in shock. “You don’t think it’s a little too soon?”
Angie huffed. “I think you’re both grown-ass adults, and if you have feelings for him, you should explore them. It’s no one’s business but the two of yours. That’s what I think.”
He looked at Kristen. “Do you agree with her?”
“Absolutely. Will, you know as well as the rest of us, love can happen quickly, or it can grow and develop with time. Neither way is wrong, and one is not stronger than the other. But like Angie, I don’t believe your relationship is anyone else’s business. As long as he treats you, the way you deserve to be treated. It’s all we’ve ever cared about and wished for you.”
“Listen to me, don’t play games with him. If Robert doesn’t respond to your text or you don’t hear from him tonight. Text him back later and just keep it with a simple good night, and thank him for yesterday,” Angie suggested. “Remember, he may be a Dom, but like you, he needs to be loved and cared for too.”
"So, what you're saying, is don't be a selfish cow?" he teased.
Angie laughed. “Yeah, that.”
