Chapter Three

"Mr. Slade?" Another loud knock on the small office door sounded.

Connor stepped back from Morgan, running his hand through his hair. He huffed out a deep breath of frustration. His erection was clearly visible in his tight black slacks. If he was in his own office, he would have yelled at Marcie to give him ten minutes.

"Yes, Marcie?"

He reached for the door handle, but Morgan stopped him. She grabbed his arm and inhaled roughly.

"Mr. Slade, wait." She looked down at her exposed breasts.

Connor gave her a mischievous grin before gradually pulling his arm away and reaching for the door again. He watched his girl quickly struggle to slip herself back in her bra before hastily trying to button up her blouse.

He turned his attention to the door, opening it. There stood Marcie with a stack of papers. The woman looked up at him before flicking her gaze behind Connor. When her expression changed, he knew that Ms. White hadn't completely finished closing her blouse. Did his sick pleasure in that moment make him depraved?

"Sorry, sir. I tried to call you, and I knocked on your office door. You have a very important client waiting to see you."

"Mr. Bentley?" Connor looked down at his gold watch. "I guess everyone is running early today."

Connor heard Ms. White's heavy breathing behind him. This caused his grin to grow more twisted.

"Tell him I'm on the phone and I'll be with him shortly." Connor nodded at Marcie.

"Yes, sir." Before she walked away, she looked over his shoulder again at Morgan.

Connor turned to find that she was now fully clothed. "Ms. White, don't forget I need that revised schedule before ten."

He straightened his back, smoothing out his white dress shirt. Morgan stared at him with a bit of disbelief in her eyes. Connor wasn't sure how much he should be worried about her. This situation was very new to him. Normally, he wouldn't think twice about how offended a temporary secretary was. This extra burden actually caused his mood to swing. A bit of annoyance filled him then. He gave her a quick nod and exited her office.

As he stepped into his own, her question floated through his mind. "Why didn't you just ask me to come see you?"

That was a difficult question to answer. He very rarely brought a woman to his home, especially a woman from work. The worlds seemed like they were in different universes, and he liked it that way. Connor knew that this secretary was different, though. He knew that he would have to cross that bridge with her or else cut her loose. The problem was, he couldn't convince his whole self of it, yet.

A bit of a trapped feeling was working its way into his chest. That was the part he hated the most. I have to hold it together. I want her around for a long time. Don't I?

He exhaled and rubbed his chin. Finally, he shook his head and made his way to his desk. He clicked on the intercom for Marcie. "Send in Mr. Bentley."
